With respect to actually maintaining proper macro/micro nutrients it is impossible to deny that you will lose weight while eating lower than your BMR. But yeah if your whole intake for the day is ricecakes your gonna lose weight but look like **** in the end.

agreed op, it takes alot more effort generally for ur body to digest raw natural foods rather than processed sh*t thats already had half the job done for you... so in a sense 3000kcal is the same either way, but they are not equal if that makes sense.

Like all thing in life, its both true and false depending on a short or long answer with a large amount of grey area.
For a 300+ lb person who eats junk food, its a pretty good starting concept to initially lose weight.
Ofcourse as you progress and your goals change then the individual amounts of protein, fat, carbs etc come into it.

The difference is
A) Satiety
B)Muscle Preservation
With respect to the former: Yes 2000 cals of dirty foods and 2000 cals of clean foods is the same calorie content but it would come in different forms. For example, 2000 cals of fried chicken from KFC may yield you 8 pieces, while if you ate grilled chicken breast you could fit in say, 15 pieces. You get more food for the cals.....
This leads to the second point-keeping muscle. If your cals come from dirty foods, then your going to be lacking some sort of nutrient. By eating cleaner foods, you can assure yourself your getting the max amount of protein/good carbs/good fats to calorie ratio-it all about efficiency.
A person getting 200g protein on clean foods will look better than someone getting 50g protein off fries and cake when the cals are the same. Person A would keep more muscle, and thus looks better

Strong confusion between cals in/cals out and IIFYM on OP's part.
