    Bad day at benching?

Hey guys. I need some help. For some reason, my bench is the only exercise that fluctuates with how much weight I can do. Last week I did high reps 185-215 range. This week I couldnt even get close to the high reps. I just recently gotten over a cold(right now im stuffy and coughing) and I just felt weaker for some reason. How can I make sure that my bench stays the same every week and even get better? I eat enough and I am currently cutting at 2300 calories. I did smoke some ganja a few hours before my workout, but usually that doesn't bother me. I made up for the crappy benching for other chest exercises so I could atleast stimulate my chest. Tips please because I feel like my bench should be alot higher!

I also find that my bench tends to vary a lot, when I didn't sleep enough or I'm just too tired it's the lift that goes down the most, the weight feels twice as heavy as usual. But when I get enough rest I manage to add weight to the bar abd progress.

You were stuffy making it tough to breathe. You natural feel weak/fatigued when you are/have been sick.

Try again when you are not sick.

I have learned that cutting effects my bench more than just about any other exercise. With the cold on top of that, I wouldn't worry about it. Keep lifting and just try to maintain what you can while cutting.

Cutting/Cold more than likely caused it. I did a study on myself to see if smoking weed would actually affect lifting/school. Today will be the 25th day in a row of getting high at least once. I shattered every previous PR so far excluding benchpress. So you can rule out pot.

while cutting i lose a lot from pressing strength too. you cant really expect to progress too much on a cut. all you can do is keeping caloric deficit low and pushing hard.
