I decided last night that I'm going to run in Tennessee's Warrior Dash this September. I have about 17 weeks to get my out-of-shape, no cardio self ready for a very hilly, 6-7 mile course. Last year I ran the Muddy Buddy with a friend, and it was a blast. I've been told that the Warrior Dash is a bit tougher, and unlike the Muddy Buddy, it's all running. Muddy Buddy alternates between running and biking.
Here's a pic from last year, I'm the one with no eyes on the left:
And here's one of me (back, middle, blue tutu) crawling through the mud:
I've been thinking a lot about what makes me happy with fitness. I've done many figure comps, with moderate success, over the years; but that's not what I most enjoyed. And I trained last year for a Deadlift contest. I ****ing hated that. What I have enjoyed most over the years was when I was a personal trainer and I led a lot of bootcamps. I miss that training. Running in the rain. Getting dirty. I lifted the entire time, but I also did a lot of short runs, sprints, burpees, pushups, you name it. So, I'll be doing a lot of the same for my Warrior Dash preparation. I plan to sit down this weekend and come up with a plan.
In the mean time, I'll be using Double-T supplements. I couldn't survive with my favorite two: Glutacene and Nitromine. I doubt I'll thrown in any Ketocuts. I've got a few pounds I could lose, but I'm not worrying about it right now.

Yay! A fan club.
Erin, I loved training like that. And I loved how I looked. I used to have girl dates with friends just so we could torture ourselves with strange workouts and then we'd go out for coffee and cake. It was a blast.
Now, on to other things. I need a running partner, and I think I'm going to get a dog. I have a small dog now. His name is Rudy and he's fantastic. But he poops out after a long hike and I think more than a mile or two would kill him running. He is little, afterall. I want a larger dog to keep me company on the back-woods, country roads that I'll be running. There's a dog that my husband has been interested in, but I can not, for the life of me get the adoption folks to call me back or return an email. So, in an act of defiance I stopped by the Humane society in my town last night and Jack, my son, and I looked over the dogs. There are two contenders.
Hansel (the brindle on the right)
White Socks
The nice thing about Hansel is that he and Jack bonded instantly. And he's very quiet. His sister was very noisy and demanding. I would not adopt her, as I just don't think we'd mesh. The bad thing about Hansel is that he would need to be an indoor pet and I'm not sure that I want a dog that big in the house, althought he's already house trained and likes to sleep in his crate at night.
The nice thing about White Socks is that she's a farm dog and has never been inside. I also like that she would bark at strangers, though as soon as they got out of the car they'd know she was friendly. The bad thing is that, although Jack liked her a lot, they didn't seem to connect the way Jack and Hansel did.Simp's Back: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165133671&page=1

It was so much fun last year. I think I have a few friends that might do this one with me.
I can. not. wait!
Great! This should be fun. It's always fun to train for an event.
I just found this video from last year. It's not a good video, but Jack and I are at 2:10 of the video.

I did some looking and research and I think I'll go with the Hal Higdon 10K novice training. I'm using novice because it's been many years since I've run seriously and I think it's going to kill me. Hal's training is a 8 week program, but I'm going to double up, at least the first 3-4 weeks. Once I see how my body's adjusting to the runs I may go with the plan for the last half of the program and then stick with longer runs until the race.
The plan looks like this out of the box:
I'll be doing full-body trainings on the strength days and I plan to build a plan for that in just a bit. I've got some ideas but nothing set in stone yet. For the first 4 weeks of training I will do body weight exercises and spinning on the cross-training days. I plan to do more sprinting once my body acclimates to the running. I love to sprint!
Also, Sexy gave in and I'm getting my running dog! Jack and I went to see her on Saturday and I think she's going to be great! Her person was a military guy and he got deployed and no one would take her. She's been well handled and knows many commands, though she and I will have to do some one-on-one obedience training, too. Jack has decided that he will name her Holly. For those of you who don't know, Jack has started a family of theme-based animal names. We have Christmas the cat, her son, Blitzen, our terrier, Rudolph, and now we'll have Holly, the Australian Shepherd mix. Holly will be 100% outside, except, of course, for really bad weather. Rudy is mostly outside even though he's small. He just loves being outdoors and has turned into a 75% outside dog.
Here's a pic of Holly:
Here's Rudy. He had a haircut a few weeks ago. He gets out and tromps in the weeds some and the burrs get stuck in his hair so badly! He's not as cute with his hair short, but still as sweet.
Double T Supplements
I brought new supps with me to work! I was out of Nitromine and Glutacene in the office and had to go last week without. But no more. I am quite prepared to get moving with my training and EXCITED!
Weekend Review:
Big Sexy and I took our son and his friend, Cruise, to CoCo Keys Water Resort yesterday. I had bought a Groupon for four a few months ago and it was set to expire. We all had a lot of fun. The place was a nice size, though not quite as big as Great Wolf Lodge. It didn't have one or two of the big water slides, though it had four good-size ones, and it didn't have a wave pool. Sexy was disappointed about that since he loves a wave pool, but he quickly found the bar and was happy again in no time.
The bartender asked Sexy how to get 'big' and, of course, Sexy told him to look up Double-T products! He said that I was a rep for the company and could answer any questions if he had them. That's when the bartender told him, "I figured your wife was a bodybuilder. She's jacked!" lol. I'm so far from jacked that it's laughable, but I guess for the average American I'm far more 'jacked' than most. I wonder what he'd say about some of the truly hot, jacked women on this site? Still it made my day to know that people notice.Simp's Back: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165133671&page=1

I just figured it out.
Workout 1:
Squat
DB Bench
BB row
Shoulder press
Seated calf raises
Decline crunches
Workout 2:
Deadlift
Front squat
Incline DB press
Shrugs
Curls
Skull crushers
Knee Raises
Bodyweight workouts will include: Plyometrics (love it!), pushups, pullups, dips, perhaps some handstand pushups if my wrist can stand it.
Muddy Buddy was awesome except for the part when our bike broke. Carrying the bike up the hill because it was too busted to push it - that just plain sucked.Simp's Back: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165133671&page=1

I think it will be.
I was gasping for breath. I pretty much took last week off from the gym due to work conflicts and I can feel it.
Please don't clutter my journal with all your links.
Today's Workout: I was childless/spouseless this morning, so I got up early, came to campus, and went for a run. 3 miles in 31.39. My first mile was right at an 8 minute pace. My last two miles bumped up to around a 12 minute pace. Yep, lots of walking on those two. I'm still rather proud of myself. I haven't run in ages and I haven't done a 3 mile run in a veeeeeery long time. Finish with a bit over a 10 minute pace/mile was pleasing.
I finished my workout with 10 minutes of stretching, focusing primarily on my low back.
Supplements: 8 nitromine post-run. I wanted some Glutacene but my only bottle was in my office. I may sip some in a bit, though, just because.Simp's Back: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165133671&page=1
