    My nutrition..critique please

I'm currently doing a 40:40:20 ratio. I'm getting around 250-280g of protein, 250-280g of carbs, and 50-80g of fat. I'm doing this ratio as I am trying to bodybuild. But does this look legit enough for a bodybuilding diet? I'm currently on a 3,300 calorie diet trying to gain muscle mass. Is this too much carbs & protein? My calorie calculator keeps telling me I'm getting to much protein.,. Idk?
    My protein comes from:
    Chicken
    Beef
    Pork
    Protein Shakes
    Turkey
    Ham
    Eggs
    etc.
    My carbs come from:
    Vegetables
    Fruit
    Oats
    My fats come from:
    Nuts
    Olive Oil
    Meat

It's around 1.5g per bodyweight. That is the recommended protein intake for bodybuilders I'm pretty sure.

There is really no need for me to do all the calculations when I could just go to caloriecount.about.com. I was asking why it would be saying 250g+ of protein is to much. But thanks for posting a link I've already read :P

Youve already read the link? Good. Then you'd know that macro ratios (your 40/40/20) are worthless. That's what is throwing off your numbers - using a macro percentage for a targeted calorie intake.

Calorie/macro need is based on BW and activity level.

Read the link again. Your choice.

I'm not going against your word or anything but EVERY bodybuilding book I've read..Franco Colombu, Arnold Schwarzanneger, Dorian Yates, etc. All do a 40/40/20 ratio. But that could be outdated I do not know. But I don't see how a 40/40/20 ratio could be outdated. I did all of the activity stuff on that website and it suggested me 2800 calories for maintaince which was about right when I did the work. I upped it to 3,300 to gain mass. Just confused how a 40/40/20 ratio is sh*t to you..

the ratio is meaningless. in some cases a ratio of 40/40/20 works and in others it does not. The thing that matters is .45g fat per lb and 1-1.5g of protein per lb of LBM

I see that. But when you said the 1.5 protien per body weight & .45g of fat per body weight it comes out exactly to my calculations with the 40/40/20 ratio. I guess everyone has there own way of doing things. I guess I just like doing it the "OLD SCHOOL" way. But I get what your saying now about the macros. What is your suggested gram of carb per bodyweight?

Yeah don't listen to this Bateman guy. He doesn't know what he is talking about. I mean look at his scrawny ass!!! He has only achieved natty, what you might hope to acheive in 5 years with "help".

If you say you read that thread already, then you read this...

"First rule: This should NOT be based on a generic RATIO of total calorie intake such as '30:40:30 or 40:40:20 Your body doesn't CARE what % intake you have for macronutrients. It works in terms of SUFFICIENT QUANTITY per LEAN MASS or TOTAL MASS."
The usefulness of a cup is in its emptiness.

    IIFYM!!
    IF!!!
    OH YEAH!!

I will do today what others won't, so tomorrow I can do what others can't.

have you tried lowering protein and upping carbs? thats whats worked for me. 1g per pound of BW 20% of cals from fats and the rest in carbs so i average around 300g of carbs per day on a 3000 cal diet. Thats just what works for me as i seem a lot fuller when i do this. Hope this helps OP

Oops..I reread everything :/.. I'll be getting 1.5g protein per lb, 2.5 carb per lb, .50 fat per lb. Sorry guys for the stubbornness . I'll be doing a 3,300 calorie bulking diet also. Maintenance is 2800 + 500 = 3300. Look good now everyone? Sorry again. New to the whole nutrition game.
    Thanks guys!
