They were 100% dead if they'd held out the siege. It might have taken 2 years, but eventually they'd be starved out and all killed. Here, the Lannisters offered probably told Edmure that they'd let his people live as long as he handed over the Blackfish.
They were in a bad situation, this was probably the best end for all of them. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Yes they are still in there, but again, no update. Tyrion hasn't checked on them or gotten an update from their feedings. They are under attack by the Slavemasters and nobody even considers the dragons. So they have just been hanging out quietly in their chamber?
I hope we see them in episode 10 when Daenerys is taking back the city. Maybe we see the dragons and the Unsullied fighting the masters on one side, then the Greyjoys show up on the other side to prevent a retreat.
You guys think Varys is headed to Volantis to see the Greyjoys? He said that "we need friends in Westeros" or something like that. Where else could he be going? Or you think he is going back to KL to kill Kevan and Pycelle like at the end of ADWD?Order Will Be Restored

The conclusion to the Arya story is a pile of shiit. What exactly did Arya learn if she can barely prepare herself against the Waif.
Arya doing parkour after several deep stab wounds to the stomach. Remember when Drogo died of a scratch LOL. Then Jaquen is like "finally a girl is no one" Right... after she's disobeyed every order given to her and is pointing Arya Stark's sword needle at you, now she's passed your FM training. Is this dude just high as phuck the entire time?
At least it's finally over and she can finally get to Westeros to dish out some revenge on the Freys.

A lot can change in two years. If Sansa took back the North she could then sweep down and fuk the siege in the ass. King's Landing is about to implode and the Lannister grip on power is going fast. Being held up in the castle they probably had a much better chance at surviving the siege than the Lannisters and the Freys.
Anyone get a look at the Hound's dink? It looked huge. No homo. Was that Lem Lemoncloak that they hanged? I liked him in the books. But Beric masterrace gnomesayin

So what is likely still to come? (my list of things I'm expecting + what we kind of know):
- Cersei burning KL down and becomes the Mad Queen
- Jaime possibly repeating history by killing Cersei (Valonqar)
- Battle of Fire
- Battle of Ice
- ToJ reveal
- Sam Oldtown arrival
- Euron doing something
- Arya doing something
- Wall coming down / big NK+WW scene
- hopefully more cool Bran visions
Last few eps have been kind of a letdown imo (6-7 were alright, 8 was kind of disappointing) but looking at this list I'm expecting the final 2 eps to be huge. Would definitely save the season. If it's all happening I'd say eps 2-5 and 9-10 were all great, plus a few good scenes in 6-8.*No sig crew*

Am i the only one absolutely rustled at the fact that they used a non existent House to bolster Jons forces (Mazin) while they could have used a real House? And they never show how the Hornwoods were recruited...

Damn what a bad episode, worst of the season by far and probably one of the worst in show if not for the hound and the mountain, and bronn.
Fuking lol @ all the theories that came out to explain Arya's retarded behaviour trying to leave Braavos when it was simply "nah she was just naive, but its all good". Worst storyline by far in the past two seasons.
- Stabbed in gut by master assassin who somehow screws it up 20 times and then conveniently gives her a final chance to fight
- Mortal wounds healed in 5 minutes by actress
- Chased by T-800 model terminator that does a lot of robotic standing around and head turning
- Somehow able to stand and fight and do parkour anyway
- Jaqen somehow happy about it despite her disobeying orders and killing his apprentice and tracking blood all around the place. "Oh it was a trick question, now you are really no one. Safe travels!!" what **** writing
Even now seeing the most reaching theories like she planned it out and was setting a "trap" for the Waif until she could. Was getting fuking stabbed part of that genius plan??
Tyrion's storyline also piss poor. Hey lets sit around and make some cringe tier jokes for 10 minutes while a massive army sneaks up on us without anyone noticing. Oh hey and also Dany and her army manage to sneak up on everyone too!
The Blackfish got completely trashed in this season Stannis style, what a joke. Hey lets leave Riverrun in a boat, actually nah you guys just go I'll just stay and die.
D&D continue their reputation as god tier trolls with the Syrio silhouette, Stoneheart references and cleganebowl hype ending in nothing.

So is the Blackfish a badass in the books like Selmy that got an unworthy ending in the show?

Agree with what you're saying Skythes
What a rubbish episode. Rarely do I criticise the show but the Riverlands and the whole Blackfish plot was handled poorly. Can;t believe how many great characters have been nowhere near given their due. One of the most interesting parts of the latter books and some great Jaime development yet he's come across worse and then they kill the Blackfish off the screen. Absolute rubbish.
It seems pointless coming up with any complicated theories left on the show because it's obvious D&D are simpletons. The Arya arc in this episode was completely stupid. Running away at full pelt, sliding on floor, all whilst barely recovering from multiple stab wounds. Yeah okay.
They only left field thing that has happened this season was Hodor and that was all GRRM.
Tyrion has had some of the worst scenes this season as well, every scene with him, Missandei and Grey Worm has been cringe. As was their joke scene in this episode.
59 minutes of rubbish just to set up the next two episodes.
Dany returning? Check. Arya finishes her training and decides to leave? Check. None of their journeys up to that end point have been compelling in the slightest, just ridiculously predictable. Good thing Dany turned up right in time to save everyone. Who would have guessed.
Cannot believe how you can inherit such a detailed story with an amazing array of characters, yet you can;t come up with any compelling plot points. You wait all year for 10 episodes and barely more than half are compelling. It's a joke.
D&D average one good original plot point per season. Just not good enough for me. The show has become more run of the mill/generic then it has ever been, and that's on D&D being incapable of writing compelling storylines without GRRM.Last edited by NasStan; 06-13-2016 at 04:09 PM.

No, you're probably right, I didn't think of that. But the bigger picture is still the same. brb helpless "master strategist" Tyrion and chump advisors saved by dany, her dragon and presumably her dothraki army arriving at the nick of time. And most likely the Greyjoy fleet will probably also arrive to smash the slaver fleet as well.
Inb4 it happens again in next episode with the vale army coming to save Jon, too. The north forgets, and we throw away one of the best storylines and speeches in the entire series, so we can get this mustachioed cuck to save the day. Lets throw in Ramsay being smug and probably torturing some northern ally or something for a bit of shock value.
I love the show, but **** me sometimes it is just so contrived

The Umbers are definitely trolling Ramsay with their alliance. They'll pull out and backstab his army when things look grim for Jon.

Some people in this thread never cease to amaze me. We have been gifted and blessed with the greatest TV series of all time and all that I read is constant complaining and condemning the current season. What a time to be alive that we can criticize such fantastic work by this crew. Hasn't it occurred to anyone that the reason the show took a few shortcuts is that they are flat out running out of time to finish the story line in time. I mean if they had unlimited episodes the shows would be so rich with detail that we have lacked recently but unfortunately that is the business. For those of you complaining about the shortcomings yes it is a pity the writers don't have georige RR martin's glorious rich literature to guide the screen play but let's not get our panies in a wad because of the past episode or two, GOT will always deliver.

It's clear that this show is gonna a poor ending. D&D can't write worth ****. The show has only been good so far because they had material (i.e. the books) to follow. The Arya plotline was incredibly bad. It didn't make any ****ing sense. I'm fine with the show speeding things along given the time constraint, but at least pay some attention to detail and make the story believable. Also, they keep escalating these storylines and scenes just to have them lead nowhere (e.g. Blackfish, Mountain v. Faith). I hope the Hound has a bigger role to play, but at the rate this show is going, I can see him being brought back for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

FUKING LMAO at this interview.
----
"For Arya to be successfully ambushed by the Waif, she had to make a mistake," Mylod told TI over the phone. "She had to let her guard down."
"We had to set up a situation where it was plausible that a warrior like Arya messes up," Mylod explained. "She allowed herself a moment [of reflection]- and this is where you have to remember that despite what an extraordinary warrior she is, and all the hell and back that she's been through that she's still such a young woman, and is vulnerable and flawed like every wonderful character in the show and every human being on earth."
----
This is the worst writing in this season yet...I mean, people thought Arya was so out of character that she may have been acting like this on purpose so that the Waif would go after her lmao. Next time i'll remember this show was written so even idiots can understand. Do away with every theory because now that D&D don't have any book material left, we'll be seeing more stupid events like these.'Never compromise, not even in the face of Armageddon.'

Thats their own fault though. They have more than enough time and material to stretch it to another full two seasons, instead because they insist on skipping character development and even leaving out critical storylines, they claim they only have 15 episodes' worth now, making seasons 7 and 8 (or 7 Part II) shorter in length. Its not a few shortcuts but seriously bad storytelling.
Also just because its a good show in general doesn't mean its immune to or above criticism, they've made their bed and they can lie in it. This sort of feedback helps make the show better, i.e. the backlash against the nonsense that was S5 Dorne ensured we only had to put up with a tiny bit of it this season.
Damnit what a joker that guy is calling Arya an "extraordinary warrior" that "just made a simple mistake ok guys"
People are STILL trying to protect the show writing claiming Arya intentionally got stabbed but she tricked the waif by using blood bags under her shirt and then fruit juice in the market scene, it was all a master plan. LMFAO

i honestly think D&D are ending the series sooner than they have to because they know that the longer they have to do this without as much help from GRRM, the more obvious it'll become how they can't do this without it

Not a huge fan of the time excuse due to how many lame scenes we've had in recent episodes.
