I know someone selling a 2004 Ninja ZX-10R for pretty cheap (can pobably get it for under 5K), the only catch is it will be my first bike and this thing is a absolute monster. 1000cc supersport bike. I would much prefer something smaller to start with but the price is so hard to resist because i could probably sell it for a profit in the future (if the bike hasnt killed me yet).
So, has anyone here learned to ride on a 1000cc bike or similar? I've been searching around and pretty much everything i read tells me it's a bad idea but I don't see why. If i just take it easy and don't push the bike too hard it shouldn't be any different than riding say a 600cc (correct me if i'm wrong).
If I land up buying a bike chances are it will be this one so if you can offer any advice it would be much appreciated.

UPDATE: for those who don't want to read all 3 pages and before you tell me i'm an idiot:

Be careful but don't be a ******* either. See so many riders that started off on thousands that are safe but can't take a corner to save their lives. Start of slow but make sure your progress your riding either through experience or extra training.

i knew a few guys who weren't idiots that got killed because OTHER people were idiots. i will never ride a bike on a public road, death traps. i can hardly make it through the day accident free in my truck because of how stupid people are.

OP it also depends on your personality. If you are a thrill seeker, start slow. If you are someone who is careful and thinks before he acts, get the bike.
IDK why you even made the thread. Your going to get it either way ;-).ChilloutSound.com - Relaxing songs of every genre

I can agree with this, even if you are very alert on the roads there are so many idiots out there its still a huge risk. Especially if your gunning it past everyone, you will sneak up beside cars fast and they may not even notice you.
I will still have a car though, this will just be my toy for weekends/nice summer days to work.

i started on this very bike ..
1st gen of the zx10r..... they call it a widowmaker for a reason, it is the single most unforgiving 1000cc around . because of its 600 like frame , length and un nannied power like the newer litre bikes
you CAN learn on a litre bike, just gotta be uber careful , dont be stupid cause it will bite back
its not YOU u have to worry about, its the morons on the road that will spook/buzz u just for being on a bike.*Knee Draggers Crew*
