I wasn't sure which section to post this in as it covers 2 aspects of being a gym rat (diet & exercise) but since diet has more of a role in this lifestyle I thought it would fit here best.
How have you guys coped with partners not liking what you do?
Every so often I will get the whole talk about how I rarely eat junk (it seems to almost make my missus angry that I don't eat rubbish), how I exercise 'too much' (5 sessions a week, around an hour each), how I'm not very 'blokey' (I drink very little alcohol, maybe 3 pints in a year).
I explain and talk to her until I'm blue in the face but the same old tosh rears its head again and again.
How have you dealt with this (with a male or female partner...or animal...I'm not judging) short of using a screwdriver to your ears to make yourself deaf.
Cheers

How do you deal with a partner who doesn't like your lifestyle choices...
If it doesn't move, I'm eating it.....If it moves, I'm killing it then eating it

My partner doesn't share my lifestyle, and we have no problems.
1 - He has his own hobbies that I don't care about at all. I support him in that. He supports me.
2. When I make food for both of us, I use IIFYM, meaning I make foods that regular people eat (not typical bodybuilding style "clean" foods) and fit it in macros.

hahahahahahaha. sexy!
yea. i've had a few who got aggrivated. but they were also insecure about how i was fit & they weren't. who cares. i liked 'em for other reasons. but yea. i follow iifym. i eat whatever. but i stay w/in my range/limit. i.e.: i'm mindful of my total/tally for the day. & it bugged people that i was so rigid. ...lol. i have goals, motherfuker. if it bothers them, they really need to find someone who's a chubster like themselves. "...but they don't look as good." boo-fukin'-hoo. why the hell do you think i'm on the thinner side? i keep track, mofo.
anyway. it's pretty difficult to find someone who's like me. guys here aren't really into fitness. & if they are, they do yoga/run/hockeyyyyy/beach volleyball only. (...more common with downtown vancouver guys...but most are gay downtown. ambercrombie physiques.) no serious lifters; especially in the suburbs where i live now...lazy drunk slobs. err...yea. :S AND if they lift, they're clean-eating nazis. it's not a big deal. but it's annoying when i constantly get told not to order calamari due to the saturated fat, for example. & their stupidity w/ diet/exercise usually translates into other stupidity in other facets of their lives. meh. forever a drone. forever al capone.
i did find 1 guy here who was a serious lifter. but he was so mentally scarred/lifting for the wrong reasons. he was taking so many different "cell-techs" & still is. i talk to him regularly still. good guy. but very insecure/major issues. :SLast edited by trance__dreamer; 05-12-2011 at 09:37 AM.

...and a stick up teh agnus on his part.
Relax a bit guys, have a drink, no need to be in gym 5-6 days per week, no need to avoid "junk" food, whatever that means. Obsessive-compulsive behavior is runnin wild around here. OH SHIIT! I can't eat that burger! Oh fack! I can't have a drink! Oh no, I've only been to gym 4 times this week and she wants to go out tonight!!! NO!!! My gainz are gone!!!!

it's kind of a "sincere honesty" genuine thing. i sometimes fear i have way too little shame. i await the day where it gets me into trouble.
as i get older, i get more dissapointed w/ my life. haha. i really want to move. but i don't know where to. my city is great for a lot of things. but all women here complain about the men.
i keep going on really bad dates. the last one i was on last week, he admitted he cheated on his last gf. he didn't even give a shti. he was like "she wouldn't put out." i said to him "uhh...that's why you break up first and THEN move on." he was like "*blank stare*" & then tried to smootch me. i gave him a ray jay stare & said that it was getting late & we should head back. when i got home, & i blocked/deleted him. he was like 320 lbs, too.
...seriously? is that all this area has to offer? it's the same damn thing w/ every one. the downtown guys are slightly better. but still. i talked to another one recently who i dated a few yrs ago. he admitted he was just interested in me 'cause i didn't have a gut. LOL. da fuk.

haha, maybe tru ^^^ But some are genetically gifted like that, I do know some girls who drink, don't go to gym, eat not so "healthfully" and yet look like a 9-10. it's unfair Usually it's those who exercised very seriously in the past! it's strange, I guess their body remembers, their metabolism remains fast, their muscles remain visible and solid to the touch, cardio is impressive despite lack of maintaining it etc.

It annoys my wife that I count calories when we go out. Often I will pull up the restaurants menu on my smart phone to look at calorie/protein contents and she gets mad. Also does not like it that I get home at 7:00 every night (Get off work at 4:00, drive to gym at 4:15, change, workout and out by 6:00, then 1 hr drive home). It gets old hearing her bring it up time and time again. But I am doing what's right for me and just let her gripe and move on, lol.
There is no spoon.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For I am the baddest man in the valley.
