Problems digesting fruit. Gas, bloating, and bulk problems.

I have a very strict diet. I weigh EVERYTHING and make sure I hit my macros, make sure I always take my supplements etc.

This allows me to go really solid A/B testing.

I've discovered a LOT about myself including that I'm lactose intolerant.

Anyway. I recently stopped eating chocolate shakes and migrated to fruit shakes.

Almost right away I noticed significant digestive problems including gas, bloating diarrhea , etc. It's no fun.

I'm pretty sure it's related to fruit.

I add about 250g of frozen fruit (raspberries, strawberries) to my shake.

How do I solve this. I read about fructose malabsorption but there doesn't seem to be a specific treatment.

It could also be the additional fiber being consumed by bacteria in my lower intestine but I'm not sure what to do about this...

I already have a significant amount of fiber in my shakes as I add 12g of psyllium to each shake.

I have a probiotic supplement that I add which mostly targets lactose intolerance but I'm going to do more research in this area.

The non-fruit shakes are GROSS to me now and I don't want to go back.

    Thoughts?

^ It could be your protein shake, especially since you state that you're lactose intolerant. Why don't you drop it and just eat whole foods?

Obviously whatever is in the shake that you didn't change is the cause of the problem, providing you've eaten fruit before & never experienced those symptoms.

Yea ignore that fasting thing. I might try to eat fruit on an empty stomach from now on before eating my meals to see if I still feel the ab pain problem.

Time and convenience.... protein never rots... milk lasts a long time. I can make a protein shake and leave the house in ten minutes.

It's also full of spam ads around the content so it's not actually written by a human and probably stolen from somewhere to make $ or just written as BS to make money.

    Not trusting this.....
