    Vitamin D3 oversupplementation... Heart problems?

Okay, so I've read tons about how D3 is suppose to help with cancer, heart problems, etc... Sounded, too good to be true.. I ran into a study where rats given a lot of D3 actually had cardiac necrosis, and died... Pretty scary? I also found another study dealing with chicken broilers... Pretty much same thing happened, heart problems > death..

Here is the study on Vitamin D3 on rats causing cardiac necrosis. They were given 100,000 IU, 3x a day, for only 3 days? I know rats metabolism works different, how much would this be equivalent to in a human? Any guess?

Sorry for the long, stupid URL's ... Don't know how to shorten.

Here is a google search for vitamin d3 being good for the heart

Scary? I was going to take 50,000 IU twice a week for so called "benefits", now I'm scared to touch this stuff...

300,000 IU is a ridiculously high dosage of cholecalciferol for human consumption, exponentially more so for a rodent given the difference in body mass.

ridiculous is an appropriate descriptor considering it's fat soluble and the unusable excess is stored.

I ran a similar study, I supplemented 10,000 gallons of water per day for 3 days to 5 otherwise healthy individuals. They all did, indeed, died. There you have it folks, water will kill you.

Until you are out in the sun regularly that is definitely fine. 5000-10000 is going to be a good amount for most people.
