Protein Bar Question
I have a quick question about protein bars. I know they're meant for people who want to bulk up, but can I eat them as a meal replacement even if I'm trying to slim down?
So if it were like this:
Breakfast - 4 Egg Whites, Milk
Lunch - Chicken Sandwich
(1 hour before gym, protein bar)
(After gym) Dinner - Chicken Breast/Salmon, Corn/Brown Rice
Is that okay for slimming down?
PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I'm still getting used to the forum's layout.

protein bars work fine if your trying to cut weight, you just need to look at the nutrition labels because some of these "energy" bars and such are loaded with carbs, which is generally bad for weight loss. Iv'e been cutting for a few months now and have lost over 50lbs and i probably eat at least one bar every day. Usually I'll look for about 20-28g's of carbs with 20+ grams of protein. On top of that I make sure that whey is listed before soy protein on the ingredients, not saying you have to do that, but I prefer whey over soy any day. As far as calories go, I try to keep it under 320, but obviously if the bar has more than 30g's of protein you'll exceed that, so just save a quarter of it, or workout harder. Bottom line its not worth you time if its under 18g's of protein, loaded with carbs, or a very unbalanced calorie to protein ratio. Hope this helps you man, my current favorite is called pure protein.

Yeah protein is always good. They might have alot of carbs/calories in them so make sure to work that in with your daily plan. Try some protein powder if you dont want all the carbs/cals there usually 1/2 of what the bars are, if not more. But to answer your question yes I also eat a bar/have a shake after workouts with big glass of water and maybe an apple or something for a meal. Good luck!

Protein bars seem to help cure out my hunger from time to time as in instead of grabbing something sugary to have, it helps out by a mile.
Just need to do your research and look into the facts.
