I've noticed some low-grade soreness in my finger joints after workouts. The joint where my thumbs attach to my palms are particularly bad. I only recently started lifting weights - could this just be a sign that my tendons are getting stronger? Or maybe I'm using poor form?

what was your lifestyle like before? did you work alot with your hands? sore hands are a common side effect for new weight trainers. most movements require strong grip on the bar. though not terribly noticable while working out, often manifests itself as soreness just like a muscle would. with time, the soreness should slowly go away as your hands become accustomed to the increased demands you have place on them.
Your life won't change until you change.
