    Cutting and 5x5

I've been using Bill Starr's 5x5 for the past seven weeks, but I finally realized that I need to drop some weight. I'm finally getting to the point where I've stalled on most of my lifts with 5x5, and I don't know if I should continue with 5x5 if I'm cutting weight, especially given the high volume. I'm thinking that it might be easier to cut weight with a 3 day 5/3/1 routine.

Any ideas? probably would've been easier if I had just started a cutting phase when I started 5x5 seven weeks ago.

Keep the weight on the bar, reduce volume to a 3x5, and worry about maintaining strength mainly, add weight where you can but no need to be overly aggressive. A good rule of thumb is to cut using the same methodology as you did to build, with the same intensity and less volume.
