Is working out 5 days a week too much for bulking?|

recently my gym partner has mentioned working out 5 days a week, he suggested:

    monday - Chest, triceps
    tuesday - back, biceps
    wednesdays - legs, abs
    thrusday - rest
    friday - shoulders, chest

i would call myself a hardgainer, i am taking PHD PharmaGain and trying to eat well and regularly, would working out 4 times a week be a bad idea for bulking?
also if anyone can think of any better variations to my days, please say!

    thanks

Just listen to your body bro. I lift 5-6 days a week, taking rest days when I feel like I need them.

Bulking has nothing to do with your routine and everything to do with your diet.
How much grass could an ass to grass squater squat if an ass to grass squater could squat grass?

but i read all over, that rest is important for growth? when i read about resting, do they mean rest in general e.g days off or just resting that particular muscle group?

1- thats four days a week lol
2- I would hit up that layne norton routine off simplyshredded. it might be magic lol. Feels a little overtrained for about two weeks but then your body gets used to it and its amazing.

yes haha of course rest is important. really it is as simple as enough food + enough rest = not overtraining. if youre worried about being overtrained make sure you sleep 10 hours a night. im know with that much sleep and an adequate diet you wont feel overtrained lifting 5 days a week

No there is nothing inherently wrong with training any bodypart any number of times per week. However, there might be a better way to split up your week to be better aligned with your overall goals.

Unless your chest is lacking relative to teh rest of your body there is no reason to do it 2 times a week. Stop worrying so much about if what your doing is too much, what you really need to start worrying about is if it is enough. I think people are WAAAY to scared of over training when the majority of them have probably not even been close to it.

to be honest, im not scared of overtraining and have never actually done it., however i read that alot of rest is needed to bulk up. so only thing im scared of is not leaving enough rest time before training again.

If you are going to do chest twice a week then you should probably do back twice a week as well to avoid an imbalance.

As long as you are eating enough and getting enough rest then you will be fine. Just remember that more isn't always better - especially for a "hardgainer".
