Why have I not put this in EVERYTHING ive ever drank since I was born?
1 TBSP of this in 8oz milk and 1 scoop myofusion made the shake into a huge snack-pack-esque glob, about 16oz worth.
Go get it and use it.

I think I have seen it at whole foods as well... as far as the differences go, I have only used xanthan gum, and it made my "sludge" taste god awful. Like pure chewing gum, nasty texture... literally threw the mixture away. According to someone in the Sludge Eating Now thread they said save the xanthan gum for shakes and get guar gum for sludge type mixtures.
Funny thing is someone asked what the difference was and they got flamed... but because you 'mAd forum REP' I'm sure someone will chime in with something helpful

good to know, will take this into consideration
sweet, thanks. but it says "In general, guar gum is good for cold foods such as ice cream or pastry fillings, while xanthan gum is better for baked goods." this contradicts the post above..my shakes are cold, not far off from ice cream, and they recommend guar gum, not xanthan gum. hmm...
so guar gum or xanthan gum for protein shakes (blended whey + ice)?

Yeah.... this is a HUGE secret.... I post about it every once in a while.
This might be TOO much. Try adding less but YMMV.
This is a commercial grade food additive for adding bulk and smoothness.
They often use it to avoid adding cream or other expensive (or high calorie ingredients) to keep the drink smooth.
It's also an emulsifier, meaning, it will keep your protein from settling to the bottom of the drink.
If you add JUST the right amount it will make your shake super smooth like ice cream and emulsify the ingredients so they don't fall to the bottom.
For example, add creatine to your shake, the xanthan gum will prevent it from settling to the bottom!

I've just recently bought both because while cutting I'm a volume eater and wanted to add volume to my sludges without buying casein. The Xanthan gum seemed to bulk up with less needed, and the guar gum didn't bulk as much and gave me some rumbling in my stomach.
I'll try more guar gum in the sludge tonight and see if that helps, but the guar was much cheaper than the xanthan.March 2008: 407 lbs
