    Olympic Bars

Is it just me or are Olympic curl bars outrageously over priced? Let alone an black oxide one that would put you easily over 150 bucks for a single bar... this is outrageous... Is CL the only place where you can find one for cheap enough? I'd pay like 50 to 70 tops for one... Anyone know a combo for Olympic weights of about 300 pounds with a 45 pound bar and then a curl bar? I'd pay close to 500 for a good combo...

If you are just looking for a lower quality bar with threaded sleeves you should have no problem finding a 300 lbs set for under $200 locally (CAP, etc.). Your best bet would be to just buy the curl bar, and if you can find a used one it should not be very expensive (Craigslist or Play-It-Again Sports).

What type of lifting are you going to be doing with the bar? The cheap bars are fine for power lifts up to about 400 lbs. If you are doing olympic lifting you would be better off finding a used commercial bar, which should still be in your price range if you shop around a little bit.

Definitely not hitting 400 pounds within the next 2 years or so except maybe in deadlifts... The curl bar doesn't have to be commercial, but the olympic straight bar I will need a mid grade one I'm checking out a few stores today to see what I find. I use to have a play it again sports, but I think it went outta business gonna have to look that up. Thanks for your input.
