2 questions here.
so i literally JUST started my studies with NASM...so far i have gotten all the online materials. however, in my email i've only gotten a receipt of purchase, nothing regarding the book that i am suppose to receive.
not sure if thats just me or i just need to wait a bit for the receipt regarding the book / shipping?
also, i was wondering how the military (US Coast Guard to be specific) does with CPT. Do they allow the people who are CPTs to train the other military personnels as a job within the military etc.?
reason i am asking this is because i was planning on going to the USCG regardless by next january. however, i started training and getting in shape, and i basically fell in love with the idea of helping people get in shape. by the time im done studying and getting my Certification, i plan to be in great shape. so dont let my pudgy looks fool ya now XD. if somehow my Certification can help me get a job in the military as a CPT, that would be great, if not, then o well.

No idea what the military standards on PT's are over there, but down here (G'day Land) I asked at a careers expo and they said I'd have to do 4 years military service before I can do fitness training for the soldiers. I said no thanks.
SQ 172.5kg. BP 105kg. DL 200kg. OHP 62.5kg @ 67.3kg
Greg Everett says: "You take someone who's totally sedentary and you can get 'em stronger by making them pick their nose vigorously for an hour a day."

hope it helps
I'm working on getting my certifications as well, but I'm also prior military and now a military spouse. If you're looking to work as a personal trainer in one of the gyms on base, you're personal trainer cert will work. If you're looking to lead command pt or something along those lines, they do have special courses for working specifically with military. For example, AFAA is hosting "Military Fitness Specialist" course here this summer. Hope this helps, good luck to ya!

I'm sorry, I think I read that wrong the first time and didn't fully answer your question. There isn't a job in the military for personal trainers, although I believe the army has nutrition specialists. But it wouldn't hurt to join the CG and then do your thing on the side. Also, you might enjoy taking on the responsibility of leading your command or squadron pt. If that makes more sense? I don't have all the answers, but I'll be happy to try to answer any questions you have about military life.
