Russian bots are back: #WalkAway attack on Democrats is a likely Kremlin operation
Are real-life Democrats leaving the party in disgust? No, but Russian-fueled online trolls want you to think so

A little more than a year ago, I posted and pinned the following predictive tweet: “Get ready. A year from right now we'll be up to our asses in Russian fake news, malware, hacks, mayhem aimed at the midterms. Pinning this.” Granted, it wasn’t a difficult forecast knowing what we knew at the time.
Today, in addition to prior intelligence community assessments indicating that Russia attacked the presidential election with the intention of helping Donald Trump win, the Republican-controlled Senate Intelligence Committee has released its own verification of the intelligence community’s conclusions: “The Committee believes the conclusions of the [intelligence community assessment] are sound, and notes that collection and analysis subsequent to the ICA's publication continue to reinforce its assessments.”
The committee will continue its probe from this position. It’s also worth noting that the committee’s chairman, Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., said publicly that the committee has “been incredibly enlightened at our ability to rebuild backwards the Steele dossier up to a certain date.” Burr and company reportedly continue to communicate with Christopher Steele’s legal representation to corroborate the remainder of the document.
All told, those of us who are keeping track of the revelations from both Robert Mueller’s office and the Intelligence Committee know what’s what. And that includes Vladimir Putin’s ongoing "active measures" meant to disrupt American democracy.
So far in the 2018 cycle, we haven’t seen any evidence of hacker attacks similar to what transpired in early 2016 and throughout that year, with malicious Russian hackers linked to that nation's military intelligence agency, the GRU, infiltrating Democratic Party accounts then releasing the stolen emails through WikiLeaks. Anyone who’s spent time in the harrowing weeds of political Twitter recently, however, has surely witnessed the prevalence of trolls and bots swarming popular liberals and “blue checks” while simultaneously spreading propaganda designed to influence the outcome of the election.

I actually believe walkaway started as a Russian psyop, some of them are real though (which came later). You would too if you read the CIA report on Russia.

Russia! God Damn it!
Libs be like...
"Do you think SHE actually felt like that was a sexual thing he was doing? She's like 6. Only an actual p3do would think that she thought he was groping her, too."
"Not that it's impossible to touch a minor inappropriately, but it is true that a 6 year old girl will not recognize someone putting a hand on their chest as groping, whether it is inappropriate or not."

Maybe if your degenerate party stops running on the same platform (ie. Abortion, changing the gender of children, putting men in women's bathrooms etc...) ya'll might keep some of the folks on the left who can actually think for themselves. But yeah....Russia...

Yeah, okay.
Or...in reality, it started like this:
On May 26th, 2018, New York-based hairdresser Brandon Straka released a video announcing the launch of the "#WalkAway" campaign, claiming he is "walking away from liberalism and the Democratic Party". Over the next two weeks, the video accumulated 1.9 million views, 73,000 shares and 28,000 reactions.
On May 30th, 2018, the #WalkAway ******** group was launched, which describes itself as a "video campaign movement" for former left-leaning people "who can no longer accept the current ideology of liberalism and what the Democratic Party has become." Over the next month, the group accumulated more than 62,000 members.
On June 30th, Twitter user CJ Pearson tweeted a #WalkAway video, along with the message "Democrats walked away from black folks long ago". Within one week, the tweet gained over 25,300 likes and 11,000 retweets.
On July 2nd, The Washington Post published an article titled "The #WalkAway meme is what happens when everything is viral and nothing matters." On June 29th, the An0maly – News Analysis & Hip-hop channel uploaded a video about the hashtag campaign. On July 3rd, the Fox News YouTube channel uploaded an interview with Straka about the campaign.
But, yeah, the Russians made them do it.

Other way around. It started as a real thing and Russian bots have been working hard since then to amplify it.

#walkaway been trending in Russia for a solid week now.
Why?
An NY hairdresser suddenly decided he isn't a liberal anymore and started a movement to make others do the same with a seemingly professionally shot video?
Also, Russia has a history of bribing locals with large amounts of money. Brandon Straka could easily be a Russian plant.
I do agree that it's more likely it started as a "real" thing and Russia is just making it spread. I think it might have started by an alt-right guy posing as a historical democratic party supporter (standard obfuscation).Last edited by FatalTragedy12; 07-11-2018 at 06:48 PM.
