I don't think I've seen a religious poster on this forum, or any other, that has gotten angry and started using insults in a discussion. I see Atheists throw insults like no tomorrow, and the Theists always manage to remain calm. This isn't a thread meant to criticize Atheists, it's just something I'm curious about.
edit: To the below statement. Theists get just as frustrated at Atheists for not agreeing with them, yet they don't get angry.

When you know you're superior and have to dumb every single thing down to try and talk to children who believe in fairy tales, it sometimes just wears on you. Did you ever have a kindergarten teacher who was almost always nice but once or twice a year would just get overwhelmed and frustrated? That's what it's like to be atheist, sometimes we just get too frustrated to calmly correct you lil' guys anymore but we always care about you and want to help you learn how the world works.

I've seen the same and I wish it would stop, but there's nothing you can do about it.
Trolling is fine (to an extent). Sarcasm is fine. But flat-out calling someone a retard or some other derogatory name because you can't change their mind is naive and lame.
Oh... and this is BB.com... most people here don't take long to resort to name calling.

maybe on the internet this has some validity, but this is absolutely not true when speaking in generalities. The second a scientist (for the argument, let's say a scientist who doesn't believe in god) says anything that conflicts with a group's religious beliefs, watch the religious go on the offensive.

They mad.

I would suppose because you don't consider them telling us we're "gonna burn in hell lol", or quoting some random scripture that says non-believers shouldn't be trusted, or speak only lies to be insults.
That and the absurd amount of red herrings I see pretty much top my list.Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend. - Bruce Lee

It's crazy, but I've experienced the exact opposite, the theists go crazy while the atheists stay cool headed.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

It's called the subjective validation cognitive bias. It states:
Subjective validation, sometimes called personal validation effect, is a cognitive bias by which a person will consider a statement or another piece of information to be correct if it has any personal meaning or significance to them.[1] In other words, a person whose opinion is affected by subjective validation will perceive two unrelated events (i.e., a coincidence) to be related because their personal belief demands that they be related. Closely related to the Forer effect, subjective validation is an important element in cold reading. It is considered to be the main reason behind most reports of paranormal phenomena. source
In other words, you expect atheists to be more angry and insulting. Therefor, you look for atheists to be more angry/insulting.
Atheists, on the other hand, look for theists to be more angry/insulting.
In short, at one point in time we all loose our cool. But we assign the meaning as "ah-ha! he/she lost their cool because they are atheist/theist!" [not because they are human.]
Compound that with the Negativity bias and it'll even stick out in your memory more.--
'What is a human being, then?'
'A seed'
'A... seed?'
'An acorn that is unafraid to destroy itself in growing into a tree.'

umad?
I know you perceive us as mad when we make arguments with passion, but that is not the same as being angry. When we throw insults at theists, that's not anger, that's just us having fun ridiculing. The most I would say that I get is frustrated, angry? No. You guys tend to dodge questions and not answer them, or answer them with scripture instead of YOUR OWN thoughts.Started losing weight in 2010 at 300 lbs

An atheist insult - go suck a dick *******
A theist insult - you're going to hell.
It's not as harsh, but they actually believe what they spit out whereas "go suck a dick *******", I wouldn't actually expect you to go suck a dick.……..'|:::::::,': : : : : : :_„„-: : : : : : : : ~--„_: |'

Viewing Atheists as angry people holds no personal meaning, nor significance to me.
