    Can Abs be worked everyday?

Now I understand that a six pack is not made from sit-ups, crunches, and etc. I'm just wondering because I am debating a change in my workout routine.

My personal doctor, specialist, and a friend of mine in medical school all say they can be worked everyday. In fact saying,it is the only muscle in the body that can worked everyday.

I ask my personal coach, read on some forums, and ask some people who have either achieved abs through hard work or just had them all their lives and they say no. They should be worked every other day. They need a day off.

    So who is right?

Logically it makes sense to go with a medical professionals opinions but I can't help but wonder.

Basically, I was considering doing the 200 sit-up challenge on non ab days. I'm also wondering if tihs applies to pushups too.

my philosophy has been that if I do weighted abs, i give them at least a day off in between. I have done body weight abs several days in a row but i try not too. I feel like they just don't recover before the next workout sometimes.

Not only the abs! Calves also recuperate quick. I like to do one or the other each workout and you can do them every day if you eat and sleep right, A good way to get the abs at contest time.

Yes but not if you want to look them. good .....most people overwork their abs and never develop them by allowing them to recover ...since you used abs in almost every exercise to hold your body in line....IMHO you are also risking lower back injury by never allowing abs to fully recover IMHO ...I think abs Should be worked like every other muscle group twice a week maybe 3 x

You need a recovery day. You could go a few days straight but cant continue that way. I like going two days on, one day off.

Well if your goal is to get a six pack, then I'd say work them more often (but not every single day) with with and without weights. You should be able to feel when you need a break. As far as reaching that six pack, unfortunately there are so many other factors that contribute to developing six pack abs.
