    Eating raw eggs

What are your opinions..? i use to think it was fine, and did it all the time. But when i was talking one of my football coachs abouot his diet (he's effin huge), and he says he now uses pasturized eggs whites from wal-mart ( 1 serving = 1/2 litre = $1.50/serving). When i asked why he uses the pasturized cuz its so expensive, he said he actually got really sick once from eating raw eggs, and this has since made me second guess eating raw eggs. Whats your guys opionions?

Why would you eat raw eggs when the BV of the protein is nearly half that of the cooked egg?

I'm pretty sure odds of getting salmonella from raw eggs is ~1/10,000. Yes, you can eat raw eggs safely most of the time, but why risk it in the off chance you end up getting sick? Protein powder is also cheaper than eggs...

    What.. ?

The "cooking" acids (like lemon juice) do, still denature proteins due to severely changing the PH levels. Isn't the "cooking denatures protein" the only reason people thought eating raw eggs had better muscle building effects to begin with? Am I missing something?

And eggs in lemon juice sounds disgusting.

Also, cooking and denaturing proteins does not effect the absorption and usage of protein in your body. Just clarifying that in case anyone read the above portion of my post and then wanted to start a "omfg we cant b eatin cooked foodz no moar becuz da protein will b ruinedd" thread.

The reason I asked is because this was the way eggs were eaten by a family many years ago. I tried it once, it was ok but it never stuck. Was just curious if this was still practiced and if it was any different than eating raw/cooked nutrient wise. Thank you for the reply
