Lower back pain :-( have you had it?

Just when things were going really well. Im making good progress on my upper body and good gains on my legs, the lower back pain came along.

It was after the leg sessions of squats and deadlifts, last couple of days ive noticed pain in the lower back and my hamstrings feel kinda tight probably a nerve. I really do not want to give up these exercises, i really enjoy them.

Please give me some hope, and tell me your stories of perserverence or something :-(
The doctors just gonna tell me to give up weight lifting.

Have you recovered from lower back and gone on to squat and deadlift again?
How long did it take you?
    Any advice you can give?

not sure how bad or how serious your pain is, but i am also having some mild pain in my lowerback, partly due to not wearing orthotics as often as i should, and lower back tilt which i am working on. anyway, went to physio and told me to do stretches, google hip flexor stretch, i can't post links yet
has helped a bit so far, but have only been doing for a short time, and may or may not help you depending on what your issue is.

Many lower back problems stem from poor core conditioning/stability. Id say give the weights a miss for a few days and reassess after a week or so. It might just be DOMS or maybe even poor technique during heavier lifts. Most ppls technique suffers toward the end of heavier squats & deadlifts.

what seems to help me a lot is stretching... mainly arms over head reaching towards the ceiling, and pulling one knee up to the chest at a time.

This man has broken his back twice and also ruptured his patella tendon and has continued to train and compete into his 60s.

Going to a doctor would be a good thing if you think the pain is serious, but don't let them tell you that you can't squat or deadlift anymore.
