Sorry for the delay guys, I completely forgot, lol.
I know this post is fairly long, but in order for this to run smoothly, please read it in its entirety. If you know you won't, at least read the "Rules" and "Making your picks!"
If you don't read these, you will very likely make a mistake, which happened for the Flex Pro and Arnold Classic predictions.
What is it?
If you frequent this section, you have probably seen this thread more than once:
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=129106401
A few members of this section, most notably valiantmiller16, the-craig, Darren in Gym, and myself, have come up with sort of a ‘Fantasy League’ for the IFBB. However, this is not typical of most sports, because as you could imagine, it wouldn’t be very interesting when many guys only compete once a year. So what it really is, is what the title says. A prediction challenge!
For every show this year, participants will make a predetermined number of picks (For example: 7 picks for the Flex Pro Show, 10 picks for the Arnold Classic). Based on how well these picks place at the show, participants will be given a set amount of points. At the end of the 2011 season, the points from all the shows will be added up, and the overall winner will be announced.
Prize?
There had been talk about a Paypal account with every competitor chipping a small amount of money in, or possibly a supplement company offering a supplement package, but it was not heavily looked into.
So instead, the prize for the winner is having the satisfaction of knowing that you are the smartest member in this section on modern bodybuilding, and of course, bragging rights!
How is it going to work?
One week before every show, a thread like this will be made where participants will make their predictions. Then, after the results from the show are announced, Darren in Gym will calculate the points and post them up in an Official Points thread that will hopefully be stickied.
All you (as a participant) have to do, is make your picks in this thread, or the next appropriate thread for the following show.
Time Frame
As was said above, a thread like this will be made exactly one week before each show of the 2011 season. Participants will have from when the thread is posted until exactly 24 hours before the pre-judging of the show to make their picks (A total of 6 days). This is to prevent anyone from making predictions during part of the show as this would obviously be a huge advantage.
For the Europa Show of Champions: Pre-judging begins at 3:00PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Friday April 29th
This means you have until 3:00PM (EST) on Thursday April 28th to make your picks. Please know what time this translates into for your given time zone.
Examples:
For those living in Pacific Standard Time (PST), you have until 12:00PM (noon) on Thursday to make your picks.
Rules
There are not many rules for this event, and many have already been discussed above.
- ****In this thread, you will post your predictions and ONLY your predictions. This is one of the most important points made in this post! ONLY POST YOUR PREDICTIONS! This is to allow Darren to easily pick out people's predictions and calculate points. If this becomes a discussion thread he may miss some****
- Time: You will have until 24 hours before pre-judging to make your prediction
- Editing your post with your predictions is prohibited. Once you have made your predictions, you cannot change them. This is to prevent anyone from editing them after pre-judging or even after the finals. NO EDITING!
- Suggestion: Late entry competitors may be added to the official competitors list a day or two out from the show. If this happens, you may regret making your predictions so soon. But, as was stated above, there is NO changing your predictions once they are made. So if you think this might happen, hold off on making your predictions until later in the week
- If someone begins posting anything other than their predictions, ignore them. Any responses to them will only clutter the thread more.
- Should you need to discuss something about the Prediction Challenge or clear up a confusion, you may do so in this thread:
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...fantasy+league
Point System
The point system for this has been kept as simple as possible. They are as follows:
- One point will be given for each successful pick that makes the top 7. For example, at the Europa Show of Champions, 7 picks are required. So if 3 of your picks make the top 7, you will be given 3 points.
- Two bonus points are given for each successful placing of a pick. For example, if one of your picks placed top 7, and he also places in the spot you predicted, you will be given a total of 3 points for that competitor.
- Based on the above two criteria, should all 7 of your picks place in the correct order, 21 points can be achieved from the Europa Show of Champions.
Making your picks!
This is another, VERY important point. The way Darren is calculating the points is by a number method. Therefore, when you make your picks, DO NOT write the names of the competitors. Instead, write out the number that they are associated with.
Here is the current, official competitor's list for the Europa Show of Champions and the numbers associated with each athlete. Lists are updated every Tuesday and Friday, so if you want the most up-to-date list as possible, hold off on making your predictions until closer to the deadline.
(1) Khalid Almohsinawi
(2) Grigori Atoyan
(3) Lee Banks
(4) Clarence DeVis
(5) Oleg Emelianos
(6) Wendell Floyd
(7) Marcus Haley
(8) Ken Jones
(9) Michael Liberatore
(10) Evgeny Mishin
(11) Robert Piotrkowicz
(12) Manuel Romero
(13) Jonathan Rowe
(14) Cedric McMillan
Your predictions MUST be in the format below! It is the easiest way for Darren to collect them.

I agree this is one of the toughest yet. It's why it's gonna be one of the best shows to watch though
Quite a good line up I think.

Massive stab in the dark this one... It's good though, it means almost no matter who wins they will be a relatively unpublicised bodybuilder to take out the title or place really well (I suppose the exception is Cedric really).
Should be fantastic.

I think Cedric has this in the bag. If he is conditioned, no one in this line-up can beat his combination of size, aesthetics and proportions. Haley will take second as he has the best track record in this lineup by far after his 13th placing at the Olympia.
Evgeny and Robert will go 3 and 4. They both have great conditioning, but where Robert just has a good upper body, Evgeny also has legs to match with a much better waist.
I think Mike Liberatore will have added a few pounds in the right places and if he can replicate the conditioning he had in Phoenix, he will surpass Grigori who beat him in Phoenix last year and take 5th place. Lee Banks will be too complete for Grigori but will lack the size to surpass Liberatore. He will take 6th, Grigori in 7th.Bench: 215x12 (17/12/2011) PR since torn RC
