    Lifting for losing weight/fat? what/why/how?

So, I just found out that lifting helps you to lose weight. o.o Didn't know that it's possible. I thought you can only use it for muscle building. It's because the muscles soreness increases your metabolism right?

So, how do you do it? Just do a set of lifts?

What's the advantage and disadvantages over cardio?

Why would you do it anyway? Your muscle aren't going to grow without calorie surplus.

Its because the act of lifting is burning calories too. Even if you were to not gain any muscle in result of the lifting (which you will) you would still be doing a strenuous activity thats raising your metabolism and using calories.

How to do it? I suggest looking in the work out forums for a beginner program.

The main advantage over cardio is that it will help you retain muscle while you are cutting (if not also help gain if you haven't lifted much before) which keeps metabolism up. Although there's no reason not to to both really.
No one is the reason of your happiness except yourself.

Establish your deficit and weight loss through diet. Lift weights to stimulate muscle growth, contribute to calorie deficit, and ultimately boost your metabolism through lean mass gains.

Fix the diet to lose the fat.
Lift the weights to improve body composition and overall appearance/health.

Debatable to say the least. N00b gains are usually there at least at first. Personally, I haven't found any muscle gains while cutting, at least I don't think. Others claim otherwise.
