So, I became a member of this community about two months and a half ago (on Sept 8th I think). After about a month of deliberation I decided to start going to the GYM. My first day at the GYM was Oct 24th and as of today I have dropped from 271lbs to 256lbs. I haven't been heavily dieting just watching my portions and the types of food I eat. For the first week of my workout I was on a CAL deficit which dropped me down from 271 to 261 (I assume half of this maybe more was water weight). Now after I have stopped counting calories and just been focusing on portion control and "quality foods" (IE more salads, more protein, less fatty foods, no more fat boy cakes, and almost no sugary drinks).
I have a bit of a ways to go to reach my goal but I think for now I have made considerable progress. I have lost 15lbs and have at the very least 36 more to go until I am OK with where I am at. I am sure by the time I get to 220 I will be ready to go to 200 and below. I still have a few things to work on, like confidence...
For all of you who just CANNOT keep your IF diet/cal deficits going I am here to tell you you CAN lose the weight with hard work and better food choices.
For all of you on diets I am NOT knocking you I applaud you for being able to do what I cannot bring myself to do yet and that is hit your target macros day in and out.
Good Luck to all, and keep up the progress.

You're not getting sufficient dietary fat.

It's an educated guess. You said; "quality foods" and "less fatty foods". I assume by quality foods you mean foods that are perceived to be healthy which generally contain very little fat. One day of KFC doesn't make up for being deficient in fat for the rest of the week.

And yesterday I had a bowl of chili with about a cup and a half of cheese and about 14 saltine crackers. A bowl of beef and noodles with a can of cream of mushroom soup added in.
I wasn't saying I eat nothing but "healthy foods" I was saying I'm sure it contributed. The biggest thing is probably the portion control. Before I might have had 2 and half of a bowl of the same chili. Or as a snack I might have made tortillas with tons of shredded cheese on top. Or a bunch of potato chips. Actually now that I think of it I haven't had potato chips in a few months.
I would doubt I have a deficiency in anything except maybe some vitamins, but I have been trying to remember to supplement those in.Last edited by PhxRX; 11-29-2012 at 02:48 AM.
