These pictures create an experience that cannot be put into words. This quote from Einstein sums it up nicely
"The most beautiful thing we can experience, is the mysterious. It is the source of all art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, he who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead:his eyes are closed"
There are things we can understand comfortably with science, we can measure them, record them, extract info from data and formulate theories. We grasp this.
but then theres also this element of the mysterious. We cannot see it or taste it, or feel it, it eludes us at every turn yet we know its there in some sense. It grasps us more than we grasp it. The universe offers us graspable scientific information and experiences of a different kind, its all so self-similar on a fundamental level- alot of these pictures of nebula etc look identical to microscopic processes you see in molecular biology.
Forget religion, the universe is unfolding, and were part of it. Its a two way mirror. The real answers to our existence must be more amazing than we could possibly conceive.

I'm an atheist, but these pictures invoke an experience that cannot be explained

I think about this until my head hurts and Im raging with frustration. So mind blowing. Anyway, in to read in between work
We have enslaved the rest of the animal creation, and have treated our distant cousins in fur and feathers so badly that beyond doubt, if they were able to formulate a religion, they would depict the Devil in human form.

It makes me laugh all these religious people who hate on scienece but believe in god. When logic has no place in religion they rationalise it by saying i believe in faith.
I would love to see how much faith these people truly have when they get seriously ill, I would love to say to them – well you believe in god, don’t have any medicine rely on your faith if your so sure god exists.
Religion makes no logical sense to me what so ever, science is proven by facts and doesn’t require faith, faith is an emotional dependency humans seem to need, nothing more.C U Next Tuesday
