All throughout last summer, my shoulder got bursitis and i had a cortisone done in august, and then another one in october in a different spot on my shoulder.
The bursitis seems to have come back, and I was wondering has anyone went and got a cortisone in the same spot before? and anyone have bursitis issues?

I had 2 shots in the same shoulder last year. The 2nd one was done with ultra sound and injected in a few spots. The first round helped more than the second. Keep in mind that the cortisone shot is not necessarily the cure for bursitis. It will reduce inflammation, but really may not do anything for the underlying cause.

I had cortisone shot. I hurt both my shoulders from flat benching barbell too much. When I say too much I was only doing chest days twice a week. I had to take about 5 months off completely and everything went back to normal. My shoulders were really infammed and so were my traps. I never even went over 225 on the flat barbell bench and I also am 190lbs. I guess sometimes your body says enough and gives you signs of inflammation to heal the area and let you know to cut it out. I would take it easy for a while. My orthopedic shoulder doctor was very good and said just take some time off and he promises it would get better and he was right. It was sure hard to believe him at the time but things will look up dont worry.

Have you tried physical therapy yet? If not, you might give it a try.
My shoulders were in a lot of pain a bit over a year ago and I figured that I'd need surgery too. But I didn't, at least not yet. A few months of physical therapy helped a lot and continuing on with the exercises they showed me has helped even more.

Four years ago I had two partial tendon tears and bursitis in my right shoulder. Overhead exercises, front and side lat raises hurt like hell. Sleeping was minimal as I couldn't find a comfortable way to lay without pain (don't know how much of that was the partial tears) I had a cortisone shot done and it didn't last long. The Doctor offered surgery to saw away some of the bone in the shoulder so that the bursa sac wouldn't rub against it. I refused. Tried physical therapy for 2 months with zero results. Eventually I stopped working out. After six months it healed completely. So for me time is what worked. It was very hard for me as physical fitness is my life but it had to be done. This is my experience.

I've already done 3 months of PT with good results. I wasn't quite pain-free, but made a vast improvement from 8/2010 to 1/2011. I still do some of the exercises every day, impossible to get them all in though. I have 2 sheets they gave me with something like 30 exercises on them.
