    Bulking Without Eating a Lot?

I'm about 135 lbs, 5'11", and I'm interested in bulking, but I'm on a medication that KILLS my appetite... I was wondering if its possible to bulk up a decent amount while eating moderate amounts of food.

home made weight gainers might help you there, i find its easier to drink the extra calories you need when you cant face anymore food, try mixing your protein with oats, milk, natural peanut butter, bannanas and some olive oil.

I can force myself to eat more but I doubt it'll be enough to gain any serious weight... keep in mind I dont know sh*t about weightlifting, supplements, etc...

...Say you're me, 135 lbs, and you want to gain weight, what kind of supps would you take in conjunction with eating more? Again, keep in mind I dont know sh*t about supps/nutrition/etc

    Holy moses batman...

I really think you are going about this the wrong way. You do not need moderate amounts of food. You really have to push yourself past your limits and eat more than you think you can while maintining your workouts. You will get sick, you may puke, but if you work out and eat like a monster you will gain weight and fast.

If you do this you can gain 40-50 pounds in about 6 months. If you are new to lifting about 60% of that can be muscle. You will be fat for some time but once you cut down from your inital bulk you will look like a monster

Source: I was in your shoes minus the medication. 5'11 140 20 years old and never worked out. I literally stuffed my face all day to the point where I would feel sick and did starting strength for 9 months before switching routines. Over the past year and a half I have gained 30 pounds and went from ~15-17% BF @ 140 to 10% BF @ 170

So aside from eating as much as possible should I get some protein powder and make some shakes? Any recommended brands?

What are some good high calorie healthy foods? If I were to leave right now and go to the local grocery store what kind of foods should I get?

I wouldn't suggest eating ass. Dosnt taste good and low in protein.

Shakes are great. You can modify the with things to add calories like other suggested as well.

Look into myofusion, xf 2.0, combat powder, or trutein for shakes

Given you're trying to bulk you need all the calories you can get. So I would recommend XF 2.0 over Myo or Trutein, although all 3 do taste good. Cinnamon roll is the only one I drink but I'm hearing good things about their lemon cream pie.

eat a big jar of PB and sleep a lot. Or just sleep a lot more hours so you'll burn less calories.

Eat what you normally do but with more protein. Then drizzle olive oil on everything.

this. just because you feel stuffed doesn't mean your stomach won't hold more food. If your appetite is supressed due to medication you have to realize its in your head, eat til you're full and then stuff down some more. I would stay away from supplements except for whey, most are a waste of money especially as a beginner. The most important thing is food, peanut butter and oatmeal are staples of my bulking diet. Shakes are good for when you don't have time to cook or you don't feel like eating, but they won't replace solid meals.

edit: agreed with guy above, add olive oil to everything you can. I get some weird looks from the family just adding it to shakes, but the **** works. I don't let them see me drinking straight shots of the stuff though lol, I don't think they'd understand :P

You don't need to eat a lot when bulking; IMO that is one of the biggest mistakes people make. You just need enough food, good clean foods that give your body what you need. I have found out the hard way several times, but I am glad I finally learned what my body needs and how to avoid gaining fat in the off season when in a caloric surplus.

I'm going to agree with the above poster. I would not eat like crazy. Simply by lifting you will begin to gain weight, and you'll probably also spur your appetite. I would work gradually to increase your calories, in sane, healthier ways. I wouldn't even use protein powder. To get HUGE you need to eat huge. You're probably 30-40 lbs away from needing to do that. To sensibly grow along with a lifting program? That does not require massive feeding -- just consistent eating.

Edit: the first time I used creatine I was about 5'10 135. I took it for 12 days (loaded) and gained 8 lbs which I never lost. first time creatine use can be great for fast weight and strength gain

...Say you're me, 135 lbs, and you want to gain weight, what kind of supps would you take in conjunction with eating more? Again, keep in mind I dont know sh*t about supps/nutrition/etc
    food > supplements.

supplements wont do a damn thing for you if your diet and training is in order. and no, you really cant "bulk up" without being in a calorie surplus.......

at 135lbs, food should be your best friend.

Agreed, food over supplements any day. Best combination from my experience is a ton of oatmeal with a nutrient partitioner like slin sane to offset the fat gain.

Is it better to eat a lot in a healthy way for ex: chicken, meats, potato, rice, veggies etc. or just eat a bigger amount than your maintenance no matter what it is?

No. You're also incredibly underweight. If the medication you're on is killing your appetite, work with your doctor(s) to figure out alternative dosing or perhaps different medications.
