Just realized I didn't really answer your question. Here's what I usually expect back:
A) guy makes up story about waiting on some friends to reply (or rarely it might actually be the truth) just as there might be a slight chance that girl is asking you because she doesn't know it's a date and isn't simply avoiding the issue

B) you tell her it's a date and maybe she's interested but had been uncertain whether it was a date and will say yes. either way, she's backed up to a wall but if she has to turn you down, things will be super awkward from now on

Yeah her youth is probably a contributing factor to these somewhat mixed signals/ reluctance to be alone, yet close physical contact.

On the other hand, I think some girls do the arm thing when they are scared, that indication could go either way.
