I like Obama, and I think he's a great guy, and I think he's entirely sincere and has the best interests of the country in mind, and whatever power he gives government, he'll be responsible with it.
HOWEVER. I'm a libertarian, and I do not believe the government's job is to make your life better. My theory of government is that it's there to protect the peoples' rights. And Obama won't be in office forever. The power he gives government will still be there when he leaves, and the guy who comes after Obama might not be as sincere as Obama is. As a libertarian, I'm against the government having so much power anyway. And Obama's increasing of government power will bite us in the end. Even if Obama is as sincere and a nice of a guy as I think he is, someone else will eventually take his spot, and they'll have the same power he did.
I like Obama as a guy, and I appreciate that he probably does have everyone's best interests in mind, but I completely disagree with how much power he's given government. Giving government more power is completely contrary to what I think government should be.Originally Posted by Scoundrel

I don't hate him, but I don't like the fact that it feels like he got a lot of votes based on his skin color, despite his platform.
I don't condone voting someone into power because of their skin color, just to prove a point.
I've actually heard people say they only voted for him because it shows their kids that anything can happen...I honestly think we should just do blind voting with politicians. They're put behind a black curtain or under a dark light a la anonymous interviews and we only have their platform to go by. If you have a great platform and just happen to be latino or black, or whatever, awesome. But voting in skin color, I'm not a fan of.guys i not afriad 2 show my boobs cuz they r just boobs but i aint a slut yall so sorry i aint showing cuz i have respect for my self

He also promised that guantanamo would be down by now and that those detained would be tried in our civilian courts. He hasnt done much of anything on green energy initiatives that he promised. He unilaterally pushed the healthcare reform through where it really needs to be addressed by both parties. It has resulted in being unconstitutional and like was said above, public option is gone. He lied about many of his immigration reform promises. Even some of the good bills were not emphasized enough and died in the lame duck.
What I really hate is that I knew what to expect from Bush. Obama feels more like a betrayal. He dosent care about any of the change he promoted so heavily. McCain was right, all he is good at is talking. I would rather someome make a convicted decision that may not be what I want than just sit around with their thumbs up their asses. 2012 better not come down to Obama and Palin.Last edited by -calvus-; 04-09-2011 at 01:24 PM.

I'm sick of the things he says.
"I won, so I get what I want"
"Republicans can come along, but they gotta sick in the back"
then just a few days ago to Republicans
"You don't get to do what you want, it doesn't work that way"

Your opinion? Do you have any facts to back up such a claim.
Sure, the media has been pounding this forever, but where is the proof?
Obama has gone around the world apologizing. That doesn't acrue credibilitiy. It makes him look weak.
The whole idea that Bush damaged US cred was a bunch of crap to begin with. I've never heard any proof to back up that claim either. Just stupid liberal talking points.
And who the hell cares anyway? I don't necesarily want the world to like us anyway. When has that ever mattered?
It's kind of like the anti-war movement. It sure was going strong while Bush was president. But now that Obama is president and there are 3 wars going on, where are all the ant-war protesters now?
Makes me think that all the anti-war crap was just anti-Republican crap.

Well I don't hate the guy but...
Tells us he will pull troops out. Adds more.
Tells us he will repeal the patriot act. Adds more to it."Adversity reveals genius, prosperity conceals it."
Think about what you want in life. Then ask yourself what you're doing to achieve it.

He has the best interest of the ppl in mind yet instead of throwing the people that made the whole housing bubble crisis possible in jail he brought them in to work for him.
I honestly dont believe he has any control what is going on. I believe he is just a body that is told what to do by the banks and corporations.
Yes this is 47 minutes but if anyone wants to see what is going on I encourage you to watch this.

I have to pay for a healthcare bill that isn't going to remedy health care.
BRB insurance costs are just as expensive. Only foreseen benefit, no pre-existing condition clauses.Spoon pics are a dime a dozen, demand a fork pic.
