How much can your weight fluctuate in a day?

I know its something that happens but I just wondering how much it can fluctuate in one day?

I weighed myself this morning as I do every Friday but my eyesight isnt as it used to be so today I decided to buy a set of digital scales. I set them up and tried them out just to make sure they worked and the weight it displayed was 5lbs heavier then this morning.

Im not fretting or anything because Ive ate and drank since this morning, I'm just wondering.

I usually see 3 to 5 lb fluctuations from morning to night to morning again.

Bigger if I've abused my body by overindulging in alcohol & food.

Never weigh yourself during the day. It will play mind games with your weight loss. Try to follow a diet and weigh yourself once a week in the morning. Or in the middle of the week to see if you made any progress so you know to reduce calories and do more exercise and then the regular day to figure total weight loss each week. I haven't touched the scale since my last weigh in which was Tuesday. The scale hurts a lot of dieters. But a person can fluctuate a lot during the day so don't worry...

I'm not very heavy and I'll still see weight fluctuations by up to 8-10lbs a day depending on what I ate, how hydrated I am, and whether I'm carb-depleted or with full glyogen stores. My average daily fluctuation is closer to 3-5lbs.

Even day by day, weight fluctuates a huge amount. This is a graph of my weight from 12/26 through today. http://www.withings.com/en/utils/gra...orcedisplay=fm The pink line is the actual weights, taken every few days. The white line is the smooth curve that shows the trend. If you expect straight-line results, you're bound to be disappointed!

As to the original question, I've had a 10 lb. fluctuation before. Generally speaking, I'm about 4-5 lbs. heavier at night.

All depends on what I've ate that day but usually it will go up by 5 pounds or more. I gone 3 days of eating whatever I wanted after a long cut and my weight went up 17 pounds, by the end of the week I was back to my normal weight.

3-5 pounds for me, sometimes more.

If I carb up, haven't pooped, and been drinking water all day I can get to 7-8 pounds difference from the previous day if I was eating lower carb and less hydrated.

My record is 16 pounds in less than a day.... I was 208 in the evening after carb loading for the day and 192 the next afternoon after a 20 mile run in 85 degree weather. Neither weight was "real" or meaningful.

The only shocking part was that during the 3 hour run I drank 3 liters of water and thought that was enough.

At 200 pounds, I can manipulate my weight 10 pounds a day with relative ease. I see a 5 pound swing just about every day with morning being lowest, building up to early afternoon before I start my workout.

Having said this, you can imagine how my eyes roll when people come on here complaining about how they haven't lost any weight in two days and they fear they are stalling....... like it would be possible to even know.

All we can do is guesstimate our average weight... I weigh about 205 right now....plus or minus 5.

A diet isn't punishment. A diet is a way to reward your body with the wholesome, nutritious food that it needs. Your body composition is a direct reflection of what you put in your mouth.

If I were to drink a full gallon of water one day and worked out would it have an effect on my weight the next morning?
