The men and women who protect this country fight for our freedom and put their lives on the line everyday are the first ones who aren't going to get paid then again he wouldn't know what its like to do that since he was never in any armed forces.

What is happening is the Gov't is about do a federal shut down, leaving about 800k without jobs shutting down national parks and sh!t that is funded until they reach a budget and part of that is soldiers not getting paid but I think they will reach an agreement that will pay them or they will resolve before the date that stops the salary (there is a span after they shut down tomorrow)

A lot of soldiers don't have that and for the ones that have young families and have bills piling up, its really going to suck unfortunate times we live in

In the Religion & Politics section, a notable member (Nutsy54) posted what the DoD said, and the DoD is going to cut out half of their paycheck on April 15th (Or something along those lines). And it MIGHT continue, which is very possible considering the stand-off between the Democrats and Republicans.

We spend a total of 154.2 Billion dollars (2010) on all Military Personnel, that includes housing, personal equipment, food, salary, etc.

I was talking to the wife of a solider and was told that they would still be getting payed but it would be in the form of an I.O.U bascially, there health insurance for there fammilles and kids would be suspended for the time being etc. etc

and IMO its not really all obamas falt, Republicans asked for some 30 million in tax cuts, congress said "ok, w.e.", tea-party comes in and was like "oh no now we want 60 some million in taxes cuts", democrats were like "yo bro eat a dick" and now neither side can come to an agreement, IMO just everyone in the republican party trying to make obama look like a d-bag so they can use it agaisnt him when he runs for re-election

The usa defence is an unsustainable money spender. You guys can not affort such ridiculous level of spending on defence. Just wait until shi*t really hits the roof and the government is finnaly forced to shrink down the ridicuously large millitary. Like britain had to do.
