    48 ÷ 2(9+x)= 288
    48/2 x (9+x) = 288
    288/12= 9+x IT'S 288/24 NOT 12

    24= 9 + x
    x=15, WHICH IT DOESNT OBVIOUSLY..

    48/2 (9 + x) = 288

    24 (9 + x) = 288

    9 + x = 12

    x = 3

    OK now lets try it with =2 instead and see what we get...
    48/2 x (9+x)= 2
    0.0833= 9 + x
    x= -8.9166 Which it doesnt obviously

    NOW, LETS TRY THE WAY WHERE YOU DONT DO 48/2 BUT YOU DO 48÷2
    48÷2(9+x)=288
    48/(2(9+x))=288
    48= 288(2(9+x))
    48= 288(18+2x)
    48=5184 + 576x
    -5136= 576x
    x= -8.92

    Ok now the last way lets do it with 48÷2 and use 2 as the answer
    48÷2(9+x)=2
    48/(2(9+x))=2
    48=2(2(9+x)
    48=2(18+2x)
    48= 36+ 4x
    4x= 12
    X = 3, WHICH WAS THE RIGHT WAY TO DO IT, SO THE ANSWER IS 2 AHAHHA TO ALL OF YOU ****ERS WOOOOOOOO !!!!!!
    see bold, you're a retard.

    this is not even a good answer for 288. some people have things to think about... but this is just off.

    48/2(9+3) =/= 48/2*(9+3)

    strong fcking retards in this thread
    the answer is clearly 288
    use BEDMAS, it's order of operations....in terms of multiplication and division, it's whatever comes first in the equation....
    so it would be 48/2 * 12...
    or if you want, 48*12 then divide by 2

    i looked through the thread and strong number of 20+ year olds saying the answer is 2...LOL

    LOL. It's not about someone's opinion. People are debating something factual. When you insert a "/" into a math equation, all that follows becomes the denominator in a fraction

    48
    ---
    2(9+3)

    is the same as 48/2(9+3).

    One people can recognize that, they'll see 2(9+3) is one function and the answer is very obvious (2).

    Wow, over 530 people don't realize when it comes to Multiplication/Division the order of operations goes from whichever comes first (left to right). In this case you do Division first. LOL @ PEMDAS, that's a method to help remember it, did you forget the rules associated with it?

    there are either () that create one entity or nothing

    you don;t just throw a number up against parentheses and say its one entity. That is some made up bullSh!t

    parantheses are there to create one entity.

    (2 + 2) for ex. is one entity PARENTHESES

    2(1+1) is not one entity

    this comes out to 2(2) = 4

    also

    there could be 2/2(1+1)

    now you use PEMDAS, you do multiplication/divison whichever comes first

    2/2(2)
    1(2)

    2

    Parentheses is the ONLY indicator of one entity in Math. There is no invisible bull**** that creates one entity like x(y+z)

    Question for the 288 crew.

    Do you disagree with this?

    4 x 27
    =4(20 +7)
    =4(20) + (7)
    =80 + 28
    =108

    use BEDMAS, it's order of operations....in terms of multiplication and division, it's whatever comes first in the equation....
    so it would be 48/2 * 12...
    or if you want, 48*12 then divide by 2

    i looked through the thread and strong number of 20+ year olds saying the answer is 2...LOL
    Was about to post this... bedmas = brackets, exponents, division, multiplication, addition and subtraction. How the phuk do u phuk this up? srs.

    Rule 1: First perform any calculations inside parentheses.
    Rule 2: Next perform all multiplications and divisions, working from left to right.
    Rule 3: Lastly, perform all additions and subtractions, working from left to right.

    answer = 2

    Correct. Yes, it equals 288, which also happens to be the correct answer to OP's question.

    Changing my answer to 288. It's just a stupidly written problem.

    No you don't have to distribute the 2

    Since dividing by 2 is the exact same as multiplying by .5
    Problem can be rewritten as:
    48*.5(9+3)

    48/2 x (9+x) = 288
    288/12= 9+x
    24= 9 + x
    x=15, WHICH IT DOESNT OBVIOUSLY..

    LOL STRONG MATH

    you think 48/2 equals 12?????????????

    i think you meant to do this:
    48 / 2(9+x) = 288
    48/2 x (9+x) = 288
    288/24 = 9 + x
    12 = 9 + x
    x = 3

    thanks for proving we are right
