    Roti vs tortilla

    Hey guys,

Today I found some whole wheat roti chappati at the grocery store and it looks to me like a tortilla with an Indian name. Are these just Indian tortillas? If not, what arethey?

    Thx.

In a way yeah, they are very similar. But tortillas can be made of corn or flour. Chappatis are usually made of flour. Sometimes you can get them have are made with garlic or onions. If you find these, pick some up.

For flavored tortillas I just buy the La Tortilla Factory sundried tomato ones. They are awesome!!! If I want a regular one I just eat roti or any generic brand of tortilla

roti / lavash / pita are healthier than mass market tortillas since they do not use transfat

When I buy my tortillas, I look at the ingredients to make sure that there are no hydrogenated oils or shortening.

Roti and whole wheat tortillas are almost identical. The difference is the fats used and that regular tortillas do not use wheat flour.
