Heel height on adidas weightlifting shoes?

was looking to make my first foray into a raised heel shoe and am considering several different kinds including Adidas power perfects, but can't seem to find any info about the heel height of the shoe. I'm favoring 3/4" heel since it's a bit lower than some and I don't want to go super high considering i've never squatted in a raised heel before.

    any help is much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure 3/4" is more or less the standard.

The new VS Athletics shoes are the lower heel height, i recently switched to them from the old model. Pendlay shoes are the shorter height, so are any of the rogue shoes.

I'm pretty sure adidas's are 3/4s as well.

you are actually more likely to get repped if you don't ask for it. but that was worthy.

now for those that have shoes. I squat low bar, slightly wider than shoulder width and I have really long femurs. Any idea if a higher heel or lower heel would be more beneficial? Feel like a newb on this lol

Btw they are my first heeled shoe and felt natural as soon as I put them on. I squat high bar though so can't say anything about low bar.

I squat the same way...not sure what length constitutes long femurs though lol. I've had VS Dynamo's for a couple of weeks now and I like squatting in them better than I do with the Chuck's I've been using for the past few years. If you don't like them for back squats, you can use them for front squatting at the very least. They're pretty awesome for that too.

Get these, They are about 3/4" to about 1" depending on size. I got them a month ago and they are the best investment in lifting I have ever made. High Bar, Low Bar, Front squats have never felt more stable.

I have power perfect II's and the TOTAL heel hight is about 1.25" but the elevation of the heel compared to the ball of the foot is .75".

I squat low bar with about shoulder width stance, feet turned out quite wide. If you have long femurs/short torso you'll find the extra heel hight beneficial as it'll take away a little bit of the forward lean.

I'm built the same way and use Adidas Ironworks and like them a lot. The only other shoe I've tried was some old Do-Wins with a very high heel and was not fond of them.

Also not sure if it would be a concern, but if you have wider feet I'd think of looking away from Adidas as they tend to be narrower in contrast to Pendlays and I believe Risto.

There's some thickness on the ball too, true. Mine's only 0.25" though so that's makes 1" for me?

Well, now that I've got the tape measure out, the size of the red foam (which is the elevation) is about 7/8".

well when I say I have long femurs I guess I should elaborate. I'm 5.10.5" and my legs are the length of someone who is about 6'2. Thus I have a lot of forward lean in my squats and they are very posterior chain dominant as I get quite a bit of forward lean. So anything that would help me engage my hips and maintain a bit more upright would be very welcome, but i guess i'm not sure with using a low bar squat how high of a heel i'm looking for.

Layne, I'm built almost the same as you, I like the 3/4 inch heel. When I lifted with the higher heel things felt a bit off and it was harder to sit back with.

Layne, I have a shoe much like these. 3/4 inch heal. I find that they help both my squat and deadlift. I enjoy the heal and feel much more comfortable lifting in a heal.

These are only $40 so I think it would be worth the investment to get a better idea of what you are looking for.

one more question (not to beat a dying horse) is that the standard. Because when I look at the nike shoe it says it is a 3/4" heel but I assume that is relative to the height of the ball of the shoe and that the 3/4" actually refers to the insert?

Thanks guys, the help is much appreciated. I tend to be a bit of a tightwad so I agonize over these sorts of purchases LOL
