    Keto and Constipation?

    Hey,

Is anyone here noticing Keto-diet / low-carb + being constipated such that a bowel movement is moved within 5-7 days?

    Thanks!

I read that people ages 20 + need 35-50g of fiber a day to be healthy.

Also that fiber supplements bloat you?

get some psyllium husk, its very useful on these kind of diets. I just picked up some from a local bulk food store, so didn't have to order off bb.com

It may be small rabbit pellets but if it is something, that will work. Eat a salad every day and some additional fiber. They wont be big, as you are using a lot of the food for fuel so dont be alarmed.

I personally have terrible problems with digestion especially now that I'm on Keto. I've been using a lot of flax meal and making breads and cakes, I have made an improvement with my digestion problems. Lots of spinach too.

You could also try using magnesium supplements in your diet as it works as a laxative. Obviously you will have to drink more and replace your electrolytes.

ditto. Also I get these La Tortilla Factory low carb tortillas with 12g fiber 5 net carbs per big wrap, they make smaller ones too. A few more things, water and being hydrated is essential. Raw broccoli and spinach are both good 'movers & shakers'. The bigger your caloric deficit the less frequently you will have a bowel movement because your body is using more and wasting less.
