I honestly don't care if you think I am a credible individual or not... The man asked a question and I told him what I know.
I lived in hospitals for 3 yrs by my oldest sons bedside until the day he died. He was born with Gastroschisis and required a multivisceral transplant ( large intestine, small intestine, stomach, liver, and pancreas) at 10 months old.
And this is ALL I lived, ate and breathed till the day my dear son passed away. I am very well knowledgeable of all things nutrition, intestinal t r a c t, liver functions, ect...
I don't need to prove myself to anybody and if he would like scientific info on how ones bowels react to artificial sweeteners then I would be more then happy to look it up for him.Last edited by BbruisinBlondie; 04-02-2011 at 12:43 AM.

Alrighty, this thread is going in a wrong direction.
In hopes of saving, I'll extrapolate on my initial post.
Sodas are carbonated and a by-product of drinking them is intestinal bloating. Most people associate drinking carbonated beverages with burping, but at a certain point in the digestive system, the gas that is created will travel in the other direction.
Another point to bring up is diet sodas. The sugar alternatives that are used are commonly known to cause stomach discomfort and irritation in some people. Some of these symptoms can be gas, stomach rumblings, as well as as diarrhea (or loose stool as was brought up by another post).
This can also be a side effect of chugging drinks, in general, very fast. The air that is taken in is pushed down the digestive system by the sheer amount of liquid. Depending upon the liquid in question, this can be meaningless, or tragic (in the case of alcohol, on an empty stomach, high sugar alcohols taken in quickly can cause sudden diarrhea - though, this is also in part to the sugar alcohol's effect of water collection in the bowels).
Hope I helped!Last edited by BookMonkey; 04-02-2011 at 04:26 AM.

Well, it does in minor cases. Carbonated water causes a smaller amount of gas in comparison to carbonated sodas (which can lead to a pleasant feeling when one has stomach pains). The issue with carbonated sodas is the amount that people consume. For medical ailment purposes, carbonated water is usually only recommended in smaller amounts (6-12 ounces), but when most people drink soda (diet or otherwise), they drink beyond 12 ounces.

Wow, defensive much? Just because I pointed out that you're talking out of your ass?
Being in a hospital does not make you an expert in nutrition unless you've somehow invented learning by osmosis. I don't care how long you spent there or for what reason - am I supposed to ignore the fact that you're making up unscientific **** because you have a sad story to go along with it?
You need to prove your claims (not yourself - I don't care about you) if you expect to be taken seriously. Until then, I fart in your general direction.

because the body does not like junk food?
Does water give you gas? club soda? (does not to me)
What else do you need to know?
Taco Bell gives me gas. I wonder why? - because its junk food loaded with preservatives and chemicals?
Ya, I know - "find a study that shows that" says the 19yr old internet educated expert.
(nah, just spend $10 at the drive thru and do your own study "BRO") I already have a brain.

Yes, blogs and alarmist websites triumph studies that have been posted MULTIPLE times. No way in hell I am going to sit here and waste my time digging up the info again, when I get countered with a CT regarding big pharma and the FDA, youtube vids, Dr Mercola crap, and articles from websites.
They are putting fluoride in or water now. /facepalm Someone that works at a water treatment facility just posted how they don't nearly add levels that are close to being toxic. Wish I could remember who it was.

What, are you like 5??? Really shows your "educated" maturity level. But then again I guess I couldn't expect anything less from a petty teenager as yourself.
I don't have a sad or sob story... Sorry you see it that way, but I don't. Not a "woes me" type of person. Rather blessed to have led the life I have so far, hardships and all.
And I understand that boys like to put it on the table, but yours just doesn't measure up with that attitude.
Non-the-less, wish you nothing but the best in your endeavors in life."No one ever said you had to be perfect... Just don't quit."
