    How long do you spend at the gym?

    I go to the gym 5 days per week with each workout lasting between 2 and 3 hours. Is this a little too long?

    With low rep range/heavy weights I try to keep the lifting part never longer then 45-50min, then a 16min cardio. This timeframe can really help, especially when working out with a partner. Keeps the chatter to a mininum, and the mental focus in place.

    That depends. Are you lifting for 3 hours or just your entire routine takes 2-3 hours? I spend aorund 1 hour with actual lifting, but if you do any sort of scheduled warm up, cool down or conditioning work that will obviously add mroe time onto your total workout.

    Basically yes 2-3 hours is too long if it just weights, but I think 2 hours is average if you are including these other components into your workouts.

    Deadlift- 495/ 534

    Goals:

    - Squat 500, Bench 325, Deadlift 550 raw at 181-220.

    It never ceases to amaze me how people have the time to workout that long.

    What are you doing for 2-3 hours.

    I'm there for 90 minutes and it includes.

    Foam Roller/Stretch - 5 minutes
    Warm Up - 15 minutes
    5/3/1 - 10 minutes
    Westside Dynamic Lifts - 10 - 15 min
    Assistance Work - 10 minutes
    CF WOD - 15-20 minutes

    Currently I am around 1:15. Some days have been :45, some in the past were 2:20. But how long I am in the gym doesn't have much to do with how long you should be.

    Don't forget the components of "checking out the hot chicks" and "shooting the sht with my bros." These are a major part of many men's routines.
    Elite coaching is about getting the last 5% out of a person's performance, personal training is about getting the first 50%.

    Is 1 hr too short? I have done 22 mins on the bike or treadmill, and then the rest is on the machines....
