As for Subway, or at least the Subway I go to, everything is portioned out, so it's pretty accurate. The meat is already portioned out (in little cardboard things). The cheese is already portioned out (come in exact triangles and little packages). The bread is already portioned out. So, you're telling me the vegetables are going to break me hard? I usually skip the dressing and just put my own on it anyways since I like the one I make.
I feel most nutritional counting is inherently wrong and guesswork. I've had labels where the macros and calories don't make sense. Heck, I've seen various sites label the same food differently. So, what am I going to do? The best I can do is that I try and stick as close as I can even if the information has inaccuracies.
IIFYM should make your life easier, not harder. Everyone just makes their life harder.

Could you be any more herp-to-the-derp?

So am I following IIFYM? The first 3 weeks I started weight training I felt great. Two weeks into it I started feeling a bit tired mid day, at which point I realized I was eating not enough calories for my size. Although I started eating more, I also started incorporating "if I want to eat that right now I'M GONNA PHOOKING EAT THAT RIGHT NOW" method and haven't felt this good in a long time (it's been another 3 weeks).

This is a much better thread on IIFYM. IIFYM - What does it mean?

Good thread, did not know what iifym was, now I do, thank you. Was already kind of thinking about this for my cheat days (extra carbs). don't see why this wouldn't work, not like its all bad food you're eating. Still get good food in but most of us take supplements that contain these nutrients anyways so I wouldn't be to worried about not getting those. seems pretty simple, get your macros, feed your sweet/pizza/whatever tooth n be happy.

No, because then you'd be micronutrient deficient, which isn't really beneficial for your health later down the road. Make sure to eat mostly whole, unprocessed foods...then fit in a couple treats if you prefer. Treats don't take first priority...whole foods do.
However, as far as weight gain/loss, then yes. However, I'm pretty sure that's not your only goal.

wanting to understand
So is it basically just a system to help you determine your macro ratio? Like a more specific version of calorie counting that includes counting protein carbs and fats? The reason I ask is because I do this using myfitnesspal on my phone. It has that daily pie chart of those three macros. Is that the underlying concept behind this?

This is what pisses me off about people who are juice zealots. I'm a newbie at this. IIFYM is like a foreign language, and once was something that was harder than calculus. So since there was downtime at work I decided to google IIFYM and it brought me to this page. I've also checked other articles and calculators, and if you people think this post is redundant, then skip over it. You guys take your **** way too seriously, so just relax.
I don't see the problem with having multiple threads on the same topic, even if it's done multiple times a day. Threads can get lost in the throngs of new threads, and keeping this topic at the top is good for people who want more info and insight on it. Some people also explain this method differently, so it might make sense to some and not to others.
So everyone just chill out, ok? Thanks
