How much tuna is safe to eat?

I got my friend to pick me some tuna today from Costco. He got me 24 cans and they come in packages of 6. I can't remember how much they were but they were extremley cheap. It doesn't matter what grocery store you go to around me, but the cheapest brand is anywhere from $1.25-1.50$ a can (133g drained).

I haven't eaten tuna in a long time and I had my first can yesterday for dinner and it was delicious and very filling.

I forgot however that tuna and other types of fish can contain mercury.

My plan was to eat a can of tuna everyday since it fills me up and gives a lot of protein. But if eating a can everyday is a risk to my health I don't think I will do that.

How much is safe to eat? I will probably google after my post. I have heard some bodybuilders eat 4 cans a day, but maybe not everyday for the whole year.

What kind of tuna? If it is chunk light, you can probably eat one per day. If it is from a larger tuna you shouldn't eat it more than a couple times a week.

It's Albacore Chunk Light. The brand is 'Oceans.'

According to the link you sent me

Tuna (canned Albacore) 0.35 mercury content.

So I can only eat tuna twice a week to be on the safe side.

I looked at a few sites and it was all different. One site said there was no evidence that selenium gave protection as mercury. Another site said that tuna itself had selenium and that did protect you.

How much tuna a week do most of you eat? If you eat any at all?
