Since my last log was headed for 1400, and I passed that, then got 1500, now it's onto 1600! To be honest, I never thought I'd get to 1500, especially not so soon. It used to seem like so much. I guess actually trying to squat helps.

When I say close grip, I usually mean pinkies on the rings to an inch inside. Which may not seem too close for some, but I use a max legal grip, so it's still a full hand inside on both sides. Any closer and my wrists hate me forever. I don't feel like the bigger emphasis on the tri's is worth chronic wrist pain. For me especially, I worked in a Tshirt printing shop for years, so my wrists hate me enough already.

Today I decided I'd attempt to do Coan-Phillipi DL again. So I think I'll do lightish squats Sunday, followed by DL, and do my heavier squats on Thursday. I'm using a 490 max with a 525 desired max, but after today, I think that may be a bit ambitious. I'm hoping it was just my out of shape-ness.

There wasn't really anything speedy about these, and it definitely took me more than 90 seconds between sets. I am completely baffled. I know I'm bad at deadlift, but I actually failed one of the reps. Triples at 65% shouldn't be hard at all. Since yesterday was Easter, the gym wasn't open, so I had to DL today.

Up to 225 for warmups, nothing heavy.

2x475, few minutes between reps, but still the most I've done in the gym and without a DL bar, and I did it twice.

Walked in the gym, and a guy wearing a Crossfit shirt came in behind me. His arms were bigger than his legs. He went straight to a bench, put 25's on, and started supersetting curls and pushdowns. Elite fitness was forged that day.
