Limitless: Explain the ending (Spoilers)

For those who have seen Limitless, what do you make of the conversation between Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro at the end? Cooper inferred that he was still on NZT at the end when he spoke Japanese in the restaurant. So was DeNiro bullshiiting about shutting Cooper's lab down? Was Cooper telling the truth that he had altered the drug so that he didn't need to take it anymore, and he retained the drug's effects?

It appears that there's an alternate ending, and that they went back and reshot the final scenes with DeNiro/Cooper and the restaurant scene in order to leave the movie open for a potential sequel. This is according to articles on the net.

I'm fluent in Japanese. He WAS NOT speaking Japanese. Sorry for the douchy-ness but Japanese pronunciation is so completely different from every other eastern asian language, so it really gets to me when people make that mistake.

the first half of that movie was real good

what was the point of the entire murder "plot" that just pops up out of nowhere? i thought it was gonna be an important event, but all that came from it was that he lost the stash of drugs in his coat pocket. seems there could have been a better way to lose the drugs rather than create some impossible scenario where a famous investment banker and public figure becomes the main suspect in a murder, only for nobody to find out and then he goes on to become a politician

At the end when he's talking to DeNiro, Cooper says the NZT has rerouted or alterred his synapses, or something along those lines. This is a plausible explanation because all new input to the brain results in creation and development of newer and possibly more sophisticated brain matter depending upon the content. Just like lifting and working out to put it in perspective. NZT would just accelerate that process exactly as any supplement would. So basically he created a form of NZT that wasn't so debilitating, kept taking it, weened himself off, and is now just a boss genius that no body can f*** with.

maybe the movie wasn't the best, but it's a pretty sweet concept

I was pretty disappointed with that movie. He was the dumbest most irrational smart guy ever.

On the other hand if he had acted according to his new found intelligence the movie would have been boring.


And yes in the end he had the effects permanent without having to take the pills.

I think we has still on the drug because anytime he wasnt on the drug the screen would be dark/ gloomy/ and he would look pale and weak. While when he was on the drug there seemed to be a golden light like right in front of him and had blue eyes. At the end it was in the mode that showed he was on the drug, my opinion

I just saw this movie.

I think the ending lets the audience interpret the outcome for himself. He could be still on the drugs, or he found a way to get rid of the side effects. I personally think it's suppose to be a happy ending, and the guy actually gets to tapper off the drug, while keeping his brilliance. Remember how upset his wife was when she found out he was taking this drug? The fact that he was having lunch with his wife in the end of the movie tells me that he's probably off the drugs, otherwise she would've left him. Either way, it doesn't make any sense, because she said the drug changes people into someone else. this movie started out awesome, but finished off stupid. just my thought
