    Chronic Tricep Tendonitis

Been dealing with this for 7 months. The pic of my elbow shows the swelling around tricep tendon/elbow. Orthopedic says the swelling IS NOT the tendon, and has NOTHING to do with it. I call BS. He really has no clue how to deal with what I have so he referred me to a sport specialist which I am going to see next week(2hours away). I get pain when trying to straighten arm with resistance. I can do pushups but I cant workout triceps...I stopped working out upperbody a while ago. Just doing self rehab right now. Light triceps a few times a week.

TRIED: Physical therapy, NSAIDS, R.I.C.E. XRAY/CATSCAN/MRI came out fine.

WANT: treatment, hopefully this next sports specialist has something because the previous orthopedics only had cortisone and anthroscopic surgery.

I believe if the cortisone is injected correctly, I should be fine. Its not like you inject it RIGHT INTO the tendon....that would be bad.

cortisone is not to be undertaken by anyone without a scope and lots of experience with athletes - it can be very bad, offer only short term pain relief and do nothing for the problem.

how serious are you about gettng this issue addressed?

if you're serious, pm me, let me know what city/state you're in and i'll recommend someone you can see who will help.

Agreed with mc-. cortizone is not goin to fix your problem it is going to help you deal with the pain or mask it. In the meantime you could try a chopat strap around your arm, this will help change the pivot point on your tricep tendon, if it is at the insertion at the elbow. Again this will just help with the pain and discomfort and will not solve the underlying problem.

Now a days medicine is all about -not solving the underlying problem. Besides that, I hope this specialist I am going to see 2 hours away will have a treatment option for me. He works for the University Of Florida.
