Yeah he was until he started to bodybuild. I saw the article of Arnold being an Ecto in www.simplyshredded.com a few days ago.

Arnold was still an ecto. That doesn't change. Consider his thin waste and narrow shoulders. He transformed into a HUGE ecto, not into a meso. A meso would be more like the guys with wide wastes, thin wrists, and wide clavicles ect. from beginning to end of BBing lifetime. . Markus Ruhl comes to mind for wide mesos. You can identify them as looking "broad" even when they dont train. They gain weight fast.
In other words it doesnt change. Throughout the life of an ecto they can easily cut bodyfat but find it difficult to look large. And vice versa.
But yes anyone can get huge.

'Fiber Type and Performance
Our muscle fiber type may influence what sports we are naturally good at or whether we are fast or strong. Olympic athletes tend to fall into sports that match their genetic makeup. Olympic sprinters have been shown to possess about 80 percent fast twitch fibers, while those who excel in marathons tend to have 80 percent slow twitch fibers. '
http://sportsmedicine.about.com/od/a...eFiberType.htm
Everybody has different fast twitch/slow twitch muscle fibre percentages in their body, you cant change those percentages, only train those seperate fibres.
As it states in the quote above, sprinters have huge amounts of fast twitch (as do the pro bodybuilders). Arnold I'm not so sure about.
But by the time he was 17 he was ripped to ****http://www.leroycolbert.com/images/Friends_Arnold17.jpg.
Just because he was underweight before he began doesnt mean he didnt have a large fast twitch mucle fibre %.
If you want to find out your % you must have a tiny bit of muscle extracted and looked at.
Or just see what sport your naturally good at.

You read correctly, the only valid use of "endo, ecto, meso" ****totypes is in metabolic rate descriptions. The rest of it is all nonsense thought up by a psychologist while looking at naked pictures of university students (100% srs). You can have an "ecto-type" metabolism without fitting the criteria of an "ectomorph" per se. I believe it's something like 2% of the population that actually fits properly into a "****totypical" (possibly making up words now, it's 6:20 AM) description.
And to the guy saying Arnold "changed" from an ecto to a meso, you're right and wrong.
You're right because, judging by ****totypes, he went from a typical "ectomorph" to possessing mostly "mesomorph" characteristics.
However, given the paragraph above these three sentences, you're also wrong because ****totypes are full of shit to begin with and he didn't really change because he never really was one or the other, because neither exist.

Body type is not about what your body looks like now, it's about how it reacts to food and exercise. There is basically no way of telling what body type you are until you have lifted for a considerable amount of time. For instance, a skinny person will usually be considered an ectomorph, but if they work out for only a year and put on an insane amount of muscle, they are actually a mesomorph. The same thing goes for fat people...ANYONE can be obese if their diet is bad enough and they don't exercise. They are not necessarily endomorphs.
There's strong. Then there's army strong.
