LISS or HIIT for FAT LOSS?

Considering I do not have enough time to go to the gym twice a day, after my weights workout, what is THE BEST form of cardio I should do to LOSE FAT!

I like running on the treadmill, so that would be the first choice, but I've heard many things like, Keeping your heart rate low and doing slow cardio because it burns fat and not carbs. Doing HIIT will burn muscle and all that bull****. AND I've heard that slow cardio is a waste of time and burns stuff all calories, essentially heart rate is high, means your working hard, means your burning fat.

Can I get some closure on this?

I used to do 30-40mins jog after weights, but I found that way to long and boring and PT said HIIT is good. So I did 15-20mins of sprint interval training after weights. I really don't care about boredom or whatever, what is the best for fat loss?

You dont have to do any cardio if you dont want to, just eat at a deficit
Remember that cardio just adds to your deficit!

But if you want to do so i would personally choose HIIT i find that it feels more of a workout and also it helps build stamina really well.

But they say that a lower heart rate is better for fat burning... I still prefer HIIT tbh.

    Hope that helps

This is a great post and explains a lot. He talks about high intensity and low intensity cardio.

...not to mention, it's by Alan Aragon

Just do what you have time for. This topic has been discussed to death without a winner. It's all personal preference really. I do HIIT in the winter because the treadmill is boring as hell. I do LISS in the summer because I like jogging outdoors. I don't find I lose any more/less either way.

    Thanks guys.

Yeah, this Alan Aragon dude? Last couple of weeks, I've come across a lot of posts about him.

Same with Layne Norton and that other guy...can't remember his name.

^^ Forget all the crap about which form of cardio burns fat at which time. All that matters is at the end of the day.

^^ Well, if you don't have the time, then HIIT may be beneficial for you.

^^ Either of these are just fine. Now if you were comparing a slow jog for 15 minutes and HIIT for 15 minutes, then there would be a clear winner, but when you compare longer duration LISS, then things are more even.

Pick the one you are more likely to stick with consistently.

I'd recommend you do whichever you are more likely to stick with. HIIT is going to be a bit better, but I personally find LISS to be relaxing and always dreaded HIIT back when I did it.

Do the one you enjoy and will continue to to do. Any minor advantage in one over the other will be erased when you skip a workout or only go at it half assed..... because you don't like it.
