    Plyometrics for mass building.

    Anyone have any success with things like weighted jump squats? Or is all that stuff mainly for agility and speed and the like?

    plyos got me fast and pretty strong but didn't help me gain much size.

    i use to do stuff like that with a weighted vest on

    did box jumps, single leg box jumps, plyo jumps, etc.

    I didn't really see much mass added but it def was a good way to switch up routines and confuse the muscles. it did help when i came to adding weight to my squats/deads, so i guess it did indirectly help me add mass

    In early HS, when I had a huge growth spurt from a 6' 128 pound freshman to a 6'2 185 lb junior, I did a lot of plyometrics with baseball, football and basketball. During that time I built a whole lot of muscle. Obviously, I can't attribute this gain to plyometrics half as much as lifting, but I feel plyos and other HIIT-type cardio (i.e. basketball, sprints) are very beneficial for lean gains and a ripped physique, as they promote fat loss, anabolism, and the release of testosterone.

    they won't result in mass. pylometric gains are almost 100% neural, very little hypertrophy. they train stretch reflexes to allow for higher velocity movements. higher velocity = more power. They are considered power exercises



    if will help assist your main lifts though, which will result in more mass eventually

    Plyo will gain u explosive strength. It's designed imo, to gain strength while adding little to no mass.

    Jump higher, be more agile, be quicker. Having more mass would usually be counter productive to these gains.

    My in person trainer just had an emergency operation for appendicitis and I haven't done a leg day without a spotter in a while because my lifts have gotten too heavy and sometimes I get stuck and I hate having to yell for help.     Plyometrics are not the thing to do for mass. Also as you get bigger, doing some of the jumps would be extremely hard on your joints. It is however a good change up for cardio and what not.
