I don't exactly like that whole calorie counting theory and here is why:
If 12 x BW = 2000 than 15 x BW = 2490.. Daily I would have a 490 calorie deficiency.. 490 x 7 = 3430 cals a week.. That is basically 1lb a week with no cardio.. Now since I am calorie deficient it should be fat right? wrong! What if my 2490 cals a day were from 2 big macs, an apple pie, 5 oreo cookies, and 2 protein shakes.. Obviously from that resume of foods, I would not be losing fat.. I feel when you manipulate your nutrition to get the right ratio it is more effective than calorie counting.. I have done both and they do not compare!

ok, so your body uses both fats and carbs for energy (and protien if required), and your body is using more energy than your are giving it (eating), so what is it exactly that is being stored as fat ?
edit: why would you not be losing fat with that menu ? please understand that I'm not trying to say one side or the other is wrong, I just want to understand.

I certainly also do what you do. I eat clean and I eat for what I think my body needs, ie. protien for muscle, carbs for energy.
I do that because it seems like common sense, but my main aim is to keep a calorie deficit.
I think if you ate the skumster special diet, you would (probably) lose equal amounts (approx.) of muscle and fat, but you would still lose fat.
but still we come back to the original question, why not mix carbs with fat. if you eat clean then sheesh, why would you not ? I mean if I eat a bowl of brown rice and then have 4 or 5 fish oil caps, is that fat going to be stored ? or if I have a peanut butter sandwich, is that peanut butter going to fat ? how can it if I'm in a calorie deficit ? surely my body requires ALL of the cals from that meal.....

i'm not really equiped to argue with John Berardi, but I'll just make a couple of points and post a link or 2 so we can hopefully continue this debate.
1. I notice in that link that Berardi says that doing xyz COULD cause fat gain. Always COULD never will or does or "this is a fact"
2. There's no links to any research ?
anyways here's some links which I hope are of use in answering the question.
