This is some sick stuff. Great progress so far OP. Motivates me as I'm just getting back into weight lifting.
I honestly think you need to up your caloric intake, you got a nice frame to just start packing on the muscle right now, if you want abs you gotta EAT. I say skip the p90x ab routine and add some weighted ab exercises and do deadlifts and squats. Focus on keeping your core tight during squats and deads and if you slow slow bulk you will have abs. Just my opinion.

Trust me, I feel you on that. I am dead set on a 6 pack as well, but also remember: You are your own worst critic. Don't become too obsessed with aesthetics that you lose progress. You're doing a great job so far though for sure. I just think 1500-1800 is too little for someone of your height and weight, as others have said. LBM will eat the fat and get you shredded much faster than just losing fat. Remember, bulking doesn't have to mean gaining any fat.

May 26 - just a pre-workout snap, unflexed. Abs (as was the initial goal, which obviously has evolved to a full body development plan) seem to be more visible now though weight has not changed haha Really REALLY want the gut fat to go away, I hate seeing it.

Here's progress for the start of June. Abdominal definition coming along, feeling much stronger as I am now cutting/maintaining (weight is not really dropping on the scale but BF is slowly decreasing) at 2000-2300 calories per day. I would be further along if the odd tub of Ben & Jerry's wasn't a necessary splurge...

You've got a very athletic look now. Your chest shape if very good. After this cut start massing up and you'll look (even more) amazing!

Dude, amazing work so far! well done sir, well done. We are in the same boat at the moment, I started at 270lbs and I am down to 190 now, looking to lose those last 10lbs to get the abs out! Let's do it..
Some things that I noticed reading through this thread:
- did you see how your face has changed? look at the biggest before-after picture, your entire facial expression is different, you eyes are more opened, you look WAY more energetic, haha cool stuff
- posture; I had the same man! look at my old before pic and how bad my posture was, totally out of line. Now my latest picture I am completely straight, it cant be but due to the lifting and strength gain that just straightens out your body.
- I read you were carrying a pic of your fat state with you to remind you of what you never want to be again, but here's the fun thing: I have done this as well, and lately when I am having a hard time (diet-wise usually) I started to think about my current shape and how I want to perfect it, instead of my old fat state and how I want to avoid it. In other words; shift your focus to the new you and don't even think back about the fat you. It's a better outlook and way more motivating, simply because it's all from the 'positive' side of life. Just my 2 cents.
Great job man, again, keep it up!Iron, sometimes it sets my teeth on edge, other times it helps me control the chaos.

Hey man, thanks! I'm really looking forward to seeing gains of a nice slow bulk when the time comes.
Thank you very much. This forum has been the key motivating factor for me when I couldn't bother to motivate myself. Helping others is what it's all about and I'm glad it does.
First off, congrats Dext. Your progress shots speak volumes, and your current image is athletic as fuk. Wish my arms were that size! haha
My face change was something less apparent until I saw it in photos - it was almost like a facelift. I big thing I did notice was putting my chin down/head back, I no longer felt the pile of fat rolls on my chin/neck...something a fit person probably would never think about, but I used to notice as a fat dude every time.
Posture-wise, I think the lower fat up front + the confidence to walk a bit taller really makes a world of difference, and certainly affects a person's initial perception of you, as well.
Your positive motivators are good ones, indeed, and perhaps it's time to keep a before and after with me. Thanks for the thoughtful reply, and g/l with your last 10lbs------------------------------------------

Do I see some tan on that last picture?
For some reason your face kind of reminds me of Tom Hanks."I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"
