the fact she "started" with 135lbs seems a bit odd...
September 2006 - 9km Sydney Harbour Bridge Run - 45:25
August 2007 - 14km City to Surf - 77:00
September 2007 - Sydney Running Festival Half Marathon - Withdrawn due to stress fractures :(
September 2008 - Sydney Running Festival Half Marathon - 1:59.22
May 2009 - Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon - 1:53:22

Yeah I don't know.... I could definitely see starting at 135 if that was a 1 RM... but adding 50 lbs to a 1 RM is tough no matter what in such a short (seemed like a short) amount of time!

I hope it's true. I hope she doesn't stop there. God knows we need more young women on the magazine covers and in the spotlight that atleast seem to eat right, train and live a healthy lifestyle. I'd rather see my oldest read Vanessa's comments on working out and diet than following "Teen Mom" on TV, or whatever it's called.
"Awwww they're so cute that makes me want kids." (Ok honey, wait until they show - The project that's 30% of your final grade is due tomorrow, but baby has a temper tantrum, he's teething, potty training isn't going so well, he's up at 4am throwing up, oops toys in the toilet, overflow! All while your baby Daddy is away - episode.)
Sorry, mini rant, didn't mean to hijack...GO Vanessa!"Eu niciodată nu se va opri."

She might have "started" at 135 in that she did other lifts before that to prepare for it. If your gym doesn't have bumper plates, deadlifting requires that you do a deficit deadlift - pulling from a lower position. You can set up plates or steps to raise it up, but it tends to be tedious and clumsy. So it can be good to start with rack pulls, with the bar just below knee height. This is what my smaller or weaker clients do. Once they can pull around 160 from the rack, they'll be able to pull 135 from the floor.
So all of them could say, "I started with 135!" and they'd be telling the truth... but not the whole truth

I didn't read the entire article, just skimmed to the deadlifting part. The first time I deadlifted I did a few sets of a plate and a 10 for several reps. I'm sure her trainer made her do other weight training before having her try deadlifts. I doubt she meant she deadlifted 135lbs on her first workout.
lol @ "I was a monster" for deadlifting 180. Good for her that she's doing weight training and living more healthy though.Competition Wilks: 406

I'm certainly bigger than her but the first time I did a deadlift I could pull 72.5kgs (~160lbs) off the floor for 1 rep without hurting myself (and with no prior training than P90X...).
So 135 lbs for her size doesn't seem like an unbelievable number to me.
Yes, nice to even read the word "deadlift" in that kind of article I must say.http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=125294131

She "isn't trying to be a bodybuilder"
When I'm around, she listens and pushes her limits.
When she goes with her girlfriends and they make comments like "dang your arms are lookin big, or your calves are lookin big", she gets all self concious and starts doing strictly cardio.
I try to explain to her the concept of lean mass and that if she does only cardio, she may get smaller, but her bodyfat % will stay the same.
She. Don't. Care.
