... retarded comment is retarded. Yeah KPMG is a big company, but each office/branch is different. When I went into E&Y for an advisory position, it was pretty chillax. Don't get nervous if it's really informal.

you're mistaken my friend. most people that land a job with the big 4 go through plenty of mock interviews. and by the end of the process all they're doing is regurgitating the answers they've been taught.

Well, i'll be working full time as an intern for 4-5 months.

Aren't the summer internships full time? Like 40+ hours a week? Anyways I've been told the interviews for the internships were much more laxed than the full time position. Land the internship job and you're basically guaranteed a FT position. I never applied for internship position......stupid me.

I'm kinda jelly. Graduated in 2009 and tried to get a job at the Big 4. Economy went to sh*t that year and my graduating class had it tough. Interviewed with one of them and never got the job. Bleh atleast I don't have to work those crazy hours.

Be prepared for "why KPMG/EY/whatever big 4" and "why do you want to do audit rather than tax?"

Big 4 interviews are not tough. I highly doubt you will even have any "tell me about a time you had to overcome a problem" questions either. If it is a male interviewer (there is a 9/10 chance it will be because usually only partners conduct interviews) talk about the NCAA tournament with him. Make some jokes about your bracket or ask him about his (serious). This will go on for like 10 minutes or so, just bantering about random bs, and then he will steer the conversation towards accounting. The entire interview will last about 30-45 minutes.



EDIT: the above goes for the first round interview only. The office visits will be slightly more technical.

Im not at a big 4 firm and i work 50 hrs a week (which isnt bad). I have a friend at grant thornton working 70 hrs with no overtime

Once you've worked with the big4 i doubt you'll ever be unemployed. Your resume stands out from the rest

Yes be prepared to answer why you want to be in accounting.

Make up a story saying how your parents are both doctors and wanted you to follow your steps but over the years you've developed a very strong passion for accounting. Then tell them that you've shown your interest and passion for accounting by joining your schools accounting club and have done very well in your accounting classes.

Also say you are excited for a job that offers a lot of responsibilities early on and one which you can put alot of the skills you've learned in school to use right away.

Also bull**** how you have all the "tools" to be a successful accountant.
