    orange triad without food

hi, i know this might sound stupid but i am wondering what are the effects of eating these multi vits without food. eg 1 hour before lunch. or say just before bed after a protein shake or 2 hours after lunch

i know its best to be taken with food but if there isnt too much difference id prefer to stick to my schedule

    thx

fair enough. Based on way OP worded it, does not sound like he is IFing

OP: it is suggested to take a multi with food for enhanced absorption of the vitamins and minerals. Not sure if the difference is significant between consuming with or without food

I always thought it was, but I recently spoke with my dad about the matter (he is one of the top pharmaceutical scientists/professors in the world) and he said the difference really isnt that significant.

well its sort of like the debate between the whey isolate/concentrate issue. if there difference isnt significant, most people will stick to something more economical or tasty.

i was wondering the same with vitamins, its a lot more convenient for me to take them not exactly at meal time cause ill get very bloated downing a ton of water after eating so if there isnt much of a difference, id prefer to take them apart from food

    just wondering...

The bolded part confuses me. But if it is proven there is not a significant difference, then by all means consume them at a time you choose. I find it easiest to take multi while eating because it is habit

However, I do not suggest taking fish oil without food. Nasty fish burps

ok maybe i worded that sentence a little awkwardly

i dont really like to take multis together with fish oil after a meal, as taking 6 pills at a time would require a lot of water. im normally too full from eating to want to be bloated with the extra water

but if its way better to consume them with food, ill just stick with it and bring on the bloating!

I do not require much water to consume pills. Gel caps I can even swallow without liquid

It shouldn't be an issue unless you're sensitive to zinc. I hate you zinc. So much.

Try splitting up your dose of OT, 2 with each main meal. Makes it pretty easy to take down

Have you ever had OT without food? I'm sure it doesn't happen with every multi, but the few times I took a multi without food it kind of made me nauseated.

If there's no absorption difference and you don't get nauseated, then why not. But if it's just because you have difficulty swallowing pills without requiring a lot of water, that'll come with practice. I could down 3 or more with just a sip.

I have no idea. The only study I am aware of is one conducted with post-menopausal women, in which they found no effect. But I have no clue as to the effects for other groups.
